Public. The Democrats opening statements will be entertaining.

The American Bar Association (ABA) rated Judge Brett Kavanaugh “well qualified” for the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday, the highest rating possible from the organization that Senate Democrats call the “gold standard” for nominees.

Sen. Chuck Grassley can barely get the hearing going before being interrupted by Sen. Kamala Harris, who wants a delay to review just released documents. Grassley denies it and is trying to press forward. Also sounds like we've got a few protesters. ~ Rob Schroeder of Marketwatch

Sources tell @Kasie (https://twitter.com/kasie) and me that this is a coordinated effort by Senate Dems on the Judiciary Committee, and that it was discussed during the holiday weekend on a call organized by Schumer. ~ Frank Thorp V

The Robert's court greatest achievement so far, making money a person, adding Kavanaugh may make money the judiciary.

"Few American institutions have inflicted greater suffering on ordinary people than the Supreme Court of the United States. Since its inception, the justices of the Supreme Court have shaped a nation where children toiled in coal mines, where Americans could be forced into camps because of their race, and where a woman could be sterilized against her will by state law."

This has been a very shameful display to the point where I'd call the behavior seen by leaders and protesters alike a national embarrassment. Protesters are drug out kicking and screaming and long standing Senators break the decorum and rules of the Senate for cheap hits. This clown show is hardly representative of what the average American expects from his government. I wonder how much it pays to protest a senate hearing these days?

There was an interesting history lesson on hearings for SCOTUS. Relatively new and the first one was because of the concern the nominee was Jewish and when they went south with partisanship when dems started personally trashing nominee's with Bork.

I might have missed this....

but when does Kavanaugh get to speak?

I don't think I've heard him speak during this entire thing other than some passing greetings, etc. It's just been Democrats grandstanding with angry and at times factually incorrect monologues.

Take Senator White House here....his monologue has so much hypocrisy in it that I lost track after awhile. Kavanaugh just has to sit there while this ideologue spouts nonsense at him?

Fear mongering will earn desperately needed campaign funds from his sheep. Roe vs Wade isn't even at risk. That narrative was entirely fabricated by Democrats the moment a new SCOTUS seat even opened. He hasn't shown any hostility towards ACA; in fact he's done his job concerning such. Really, this letter just echos what the Democrats have been doing today. They're trying to tie Kavanaugh to Trump, Big Business, and to the failure of ACA.

The judiciary has become controversial because the main legislative body, Congress, is more interested in staying in power than legislating and has given away more and more power to the President and rely on the judiciary to make the law.

There were only worth 3/5's of a person because of the Democrats. The North didn't want to count them at all. It had nothing to do with their worth as a person but everything to do regarding the number of representatives a state was allowed based on its population. By counting the slaves a 3/5's of a person the South was awarded with more representatives then their numbers should have allowed. The North wanted only freemen to be counted toward the number of representatives.

So, Mr. Booker, it was your party that would count them as 3/5's of a person for the purpose of stealing elections.

It will get worse; when the democrats (or the successor party) take both houses of congress and the Executive branches expect tit-for-tat. If criticized, they'll simply state: "it was okay for you run things the way you felt best, now it's our turn like it or not". Yes, it's going to get ugly down the road, very ugly.

Reminder: Key Democrats Demanding More Time and Documents Announced Their Kavanaugh Opposition in July.....

At this morning's circus (https://hotair.com/archives/2018/09/04/video-dems-try-adjourning-kavanaugh-judiciary-confirmation-hearing/?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_term=video-dems-try-adjourning-kavanaugh-judiciary-confirmation-hearing&utm_content=0&utm_campaign=PostPromoterPro) in the Senate Judiciary Committee -- during which Democratic members launched (https://townhall.com/tipsheet/guybenson/2018/09/04/here-we-go-the-highstakes-kavanaugh-hearings-start-today-n2515437) dozens of interruptions, and a seemingly endless string of shrieking left-wing protesters were dragged out of the room -- the opposition focused the bulk of their complaints on documents being withheld from the committee (here's some useful context (https://twitter.com/JCNSeverino/status/1037005691968466945) on that). Some of their points actually seemed relatively fair and reasonable, and I think the administration erred by dropping thousands (https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/democrats-raise-alarm-white-house-decision-withhold-kavanaugh/story?id=57563344) of previously-unseen documents the day before the hearings began. Other objections seemed more contrived and cynical.

What was particularly difficult to take seriously were supposedly good-faith demands for more time and more documents, offered by Senators who've already stated their opposition to the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh. The three members who led the charge with the most interruptions (https://twitter.com/michael_ahrens/status/1036985939397144576) (two of whom just happen to be presidential aspirants) were Cory Booker of New Jersey, Kamala Harris of California, and Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, who repeatedly lied (https://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/18/nyregion/18blumenthal.html) about serving in Vietnam. Were any of these three genuinely interested in reviewing additional materials, in order to learn more about the nominee and his record? Their own public statements suggest not.

Meanwhile, we've also learned (https://townhall.com/tipsheet/katiepavlich/2018/09/04/democrats-plan-collective-temper-tantrum-act-insane-to-stop-kavanaugh-hearing-n2515643) that in spite of Democrats' many protestations about the majority's eleventh-hour document dump, the plot to interrupt and derail the hearing was hatched (https://twitter.com/kasie/status/1036977506090405889) before that dispute arose and became their "hook." This was a Schumer strategy, cooked up over the weekend:

As Senators on both sides of the aisle drone on with opening statements throughout the day, this bottom line takeaway is the most important:

Ryan Fazio @ryanfazio
(https://twitter.com/ryanfazio)

Brett #Kavanaugh (https://twitter.com/hashtag/Kavanaugh?src=hash) spent 12 years on the second-most influential court in the US, writing ~300 opinions--13 of which #SCOTUS (https://twitter.com/hashtag/SCOTUS?src=hash) adopted & only one reversed--all in his own name. The allegation there is not sufficient evidence for the Senate to advise on his nomination is nonsense.
