An illegal alien from El Salvador, who had previously been deported 10 times from the United States, was sentenced to nearly 10 years (115 months) in federal prison, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
Jose Alfonso Rodriguez-Garcia, 54, was sentenced on Aug. 29 by U.S. District Court Judge W. Earl Britt for "illegal reentry of an aggravated felon." He had pleaded guilty to the crime on May 22.
Rodriguez-Garcia "was found in Wake County [North Carolina] due to his arrest for second degree forcible rape," said the U.S. Attorney's Office (https://www.justice.gov/usao-ednc/pr/ten-time-previously-deported-alien-sentenced-illegal-reentry-aggravated-felon). In addition to illegally entering and reentering the United States, Rodriguez-Garcia has a long criminal record with multiple convictions, including the following:
burglary,
receiving stolen property,
grand theft from a person,
theft,
attempt to distribute a controlled substance,
resisting public officer,
trespassing,
possession of controlled substances,
auto theft,
evading arrest,
assault on a female,
deported alien found in the United States,
illegal reentry of a previously deported alien, and
illegal reentry by a previously deported aggravated felon.
