Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is reportedly planning to run for president in 2020 as a Democrat, setting up the potential for a billionaire-on-billionaire showdown.

Mr. Bloomberg (https://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/mike-bloomberg/), who mulled presidential runs in 2008, 2012 and 2016, has told confidants that he plans to challenge President Trump (https://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/donald-trump/)’s re-election bid, according to (https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/world/bloomberg-set-to-run-against-trump-in-2020-qvbfcrswg?CMP=Sprkr-_-Editorial-_-thetimes-_-Unspecified-_-TWITTER) a Thursday report in the Times of London.....snip~

Yep, Bloomberg will challenge Trump in 2020 for the Democrats. He will run as a Democrat. He is their only chance at winning. No other Demos will be able to compete against him. Kamala Harris or Booker Sparticus will not like that. Nor will Eric Holder and Terry McAullife.

Look who intro'd him.....That's Right Nancy Pelosi. Demo Establishment has found their candidate. What say ye?

Yeah, that sounds about right. Sounds like exactly the kind of thing the Democratic Party would do: learn from the Republicans and nominate a pseudo-populist billionaire.

I've suspected that Joe Biden would be the most likely Democratic nominee this time around, but yeah, Bloomberg probably has a chance. Why not? I've heard the CEO of Starbucks is weighing a Democratic run as well.

Honestly, I'm not even sure I'm going to vote in 2020. I mean I'll vote in the Democratic primaries, but if my only real alternative to Trump in the presidential election itself turns out to be someone like Biden or *shudders* Bloomberg...I dunno. Both of those actually like kind of a step backward compared to Hillary Clinton for me. I'm not about to vote for some "law-and-order", anti-BLM, billionaire neoliberal gentrification candidate or some anti-abortion, TPP-hawking servant of the financial aristocracy (oh, who also headed up the Anita Hill show trial!) just because he "sounds Midwestern" (the big argument in Biden's defense). I see little evidence of the Democratic Party being willing to move in a more left direction beyond selected individual House districts.

NGH ! Not gonna happen.

He is from New York, and way to liberal. Hillary Clinton did not succeed, neither will Bloomberg. I don't believe he would make it past the primaries.

"3) He's very proactive on guns: Bloomberg has broken with Republican allies in a big way when it comes to the issue of guns. During his time as NYC mayor (he co-founded Mayors Against Illegal Guns, which later became Everytown for Gun Safety) and even after he left office he has campaigned aggressively in favor of stricter gun control laws and has financed ads shaming his fellow politicians for stonewalling on the subject."

"Bloomberg's name was floated as a possible candidate, and he certainly took steps to weigh his chances. Each time, demographic challenges squandered his hopes and Barack Obama emerged triumphant."

"Allegations of a bought election have dogged Bloomberg ever since."

"9) He has clashed with labor unions: "

I sense a mess coming. Word is that Biden might run. Of course Sanders is going to jump in and pee on everything again. Wouldn't it be nice if the Democrats could just pick someone who knows what the hell he or she is talking about and just get behind THAT person like a title wave and unseat every Republican in both houses as well for a super majority? But noooo, Pelosi is going to kick and scream and burn her bra, the Dems are going to go Immigration and LGBT again. They're going to keep talking about this ghost called "The Middle Class" like it even exists anymore and they're going to clearly demonstrate why THEY TOO are so fucked up they don't know whether to shit or wind their watch!

And then there's Trump.

Looks like he is going to do it.....funding some Demos who will give him support. Is all it takes.

Michael Bloomberg Will Spend $80 Million on the … (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/20/us/politics/mike-bloomberg-democrats-election.html)https://www.nytimes.com/.../mike-bloomberg-democrats-election.html
Jun 20, 2018 · Mr. Bloomberg — a political independent who has championed left-of-center policies on gun control, immigration and the environment — has approved a plan to pour at least $80 million into the 2018 election, with the bulk of that money going to support Democratic congressional candidates, advisers to Mr. Bloomberg said.

This will cause Sanders some major problems. He wont be able to compete with the money against Bloomberg. Which if the Sandman doesn't run. Then he loses any control he was gaining over the Demos.

Notice the curious absence of left-of-center economic or policing policies that are mentioned.

Hahahahaa, I get it, because she's a woman! Hahahahahaahaaarrr!! You're such a knee-slapper, dude.

Anyway, this radfem would like to point out that bra burning is an urban myth. There was no burning of bras. Not now. Not then. It's a fun idea, but it's a myth.

What there actually was was a small protest of the 1968 Miss America Pageant both inside and outside the event. On the outside, as part of the protest, demonstrators set up a what they called a Freedom Trash Can (these protesters were drawn from the anti-Vietnam-War movement and employed its type of rhetoric often) and dumped what they regarded as symbols of beauty culture into it. Some chose high-heeled shoes. Others girdles or Playboy magazines. Some chose bras. But there was no burning. They also brought out a sheep to symbolize the pageant participants. It was a small event that captured the often playful spirit of early radical feminism, not unlike organizations with such titles as W.I.T.C.H., shorthand for Women's International Terrorist Conspiracy from Hell, which famously cast a hex on Wall Street. (The Dow did fall a few points the next day. Draw your own conclusions.)

Nancy Pelosi is incapable both of having that much fun and of challenging the most painfully obvious forms of sexism in our society, such as our beauty culture, which is stronger today than ever before. A modern analogy to the type of action that was the 1968 Miss American Pageant protest would be the current-day phenomenon of beauty resisters in South Korea (https://www.feministcurrent.com/2018/09/06/south-koreas-take-off-corset-movement-inspire-feminists-everywhere-towards-radical-action/). They are awesome, IMO.

He can't make up his mind what he is; I think he's an opportunist. Your right though, he'll definitely cause the dems some worry. Maybe this will cause them to clean house and put up a candidate that's electable.
