I've gotten used to liberals/socialists/leftists/progressives or whatever euphemism they're using today telling me that I don't know what's good for me. But, now....

""I think everyone knows that the citizens of Israel are the only ones who can decide who will faithfully represent the vital interests of the state," he (Netanyahu) said. His remarks came in response to an article by prominent Bloomberg columnist Jeffrey Goldberg in which he quoted Obama as saying repeatedly: "Israel doesn't know what its own best interests are."
http://www.france24.com/en/20130116-only-israel-knows-its-best-interests-netanyahu-obama

If Israel allows our President to tell them what their best interests are they might as well commit suicide. President Obama is as supportive of Israel as he is of the U.S. Constitution. He hates both.

Oh, you might want to read the U.S. Constitution, too. It also has nothing to do with the topic in the OP. I can't type in crayon, but, who the hell is the nitwit in the White House to say Israel doesn't know what's good for Israel but the anti-Israel President of the United States does?

I doubt there is a problem. After the spanking Netanyahu gave Owebama when they met I'm pretty sure the people of Israel are NOT going to put their hopes and future in the hands of a moron so bereft of a world view he would seriously propose a return to 1967 borders.

I'm pretty sure that Netanyahu is and has been working hard to push the US into a war with Iran on Israel's behalf. That's what he's all about right now. What we don't need now (and what the PM wants) is another war. Another ME war. Another multi-year ME war.

If Romney had won, the US would be engaged with them within a year. He and Bibi are pals.

It is possible to dislike and disapprove of Israel's leadership while still being supportive of the people living in the country. If you put the radical followers and the hard line Israeli leadership aside i'd be willing to bet that nearly all citizens of Israel regardless of their religion do not want war with Iran. Just like probably most citizens of Iran, excluding their leadership and radical followers, do not want to start a nuclear war or destroy a country of millions.

People in every nation want the same things, a roof over their heads, food, education for their kids AND to feel safe.

The current US policy toward Israel is a threat to their very existence. If they withdraw to pre-1967 boundaries with the war technology available today, Israel would cease to exist in two weeks.

No, it is not the people of Iran who have demanded the extermination of the Jews and eradication of the Jewish State, just its ELECTED government.

Now, please answer me this: whose existence has Israel ever threatened? Who have they ever attacked who had not attacked them first?

Let us remember that the nations that surround them have taken them to war three times since 1949.

It is one thing to sit in the comfort of your living room and wax on, an entirely different matter to live every day with your neighbors wanting to nuke you and Palestinians regularly bombing you.

Considering the Patriot Act and the three wars started because of 911 we know Amerika would not be as reserved.

Washington armed its nukes before the second plane hit......

Let's face it, the U.S. political system is broken beyond repair and simply a reflection of the economic and social degeneration of the body politic. I am constantly reminded of the wise Czech who pointed out that the problem is not that a Barack Obama was elected, the problem is that the electorate has reached the level where it would elect a Barack Obama.

Or for that matter a George Bush. In truth, when I look at how the country has gone since the 50's or the quality of the political leadership, it is hard for me to find much encouragement there.

Today, borrowing over 40 percent of the budget, most of which is spent on handouts and foreign military misadventurism, you have to be terminally optimistic to see anything good about the current situation or going forward. Saw today that the workforce is the same as it was in 2001, roughly 111 million, even though there are 30 million more people in the country now. Not hard to see where those exploding welfare and food stamp roles are coming from.

Sixty million abortions, much of the population admitting to using or having used drugs, half the college grads can't find jobs, wanton printing of the currency that can only end up ending one way.

Time for a reset.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/08/us/politics/mitt-romney-and-benjamin-netanyahu-are-old-friends.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

A Friendship Dating to 1976 Resonates in 2012

The two young men had woefully little in common: one was a wealthy Mormon from Michigan, the other a middle-class Jew from Israel.

But in 1976, the lives of Mitt Romney and Benjamin Netanyahu intersected, briefly but indelibly, in the 16th-floor offices of the Boston Consulting Group, where both had been recruited as corporate advisers. At the most formative time of their careers, they sized each other up during the firm’s weekly brainstorming sessions, absorbing the same profoundly analytical view of the world.

That shared experience decades ago led to a warm friendship, little known to outsiders, that is now rich with political intrigue. Mr. Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, is making the case for military action against Iran as Mr. Romney, the likely Republican presidential nominee, is attacking the Obama administration for not supporting Mr. Netanyahu more robustly.

Just thought you girls would like to know.

You might want to review the record of the US use of veto power to protect Israel over the last 30 years. But for the US, Israel would have faced numerous UN sanctions over the years, so whatever they believe their best interests are, they require the US to protect them from the rest of the world calling them on behaviors not otherwise tolerated. It's much easier to adopt a "no compromise" position, if the most powerful country in the world is in your corner.

Oh, my god, UN sanctions. That's terrible. UN sanctions have been so gosh-golly effective in maintaining peace and security around the world. So, until President Obama, the U.S. was supportive of Israel in the U.N. On the day Israel came into existence and was attacked by eight countries the U.S. and the U.N. did what, exactly? No, with the UN track record. Their high point in the last fifty years might be creating "safe havens" in the Balkans to facilitate the massacres while the U.N. watched.

What President Obama thinks is good for Israel is to let those who demand the end of Israel and the death of the Jews to have the power to fulfill their dreams. But, regardless, it's just the nerve of the nitwit that is so outrageous.

Now, President Obama has the gall to say that he knows what good for Israel and the Israelis don't. Of course, he he knows what's good for Americans but Americans don't so I guess it's just the world view of a garden variety narcissists.

Huh?

I heard a fairly lengthy story yesterday on how UN nuke inspectors are reporting that Iran is not allowing them access to certain areas. The suspicion is that they are enriching uranium beyond 20% in these areas.

The story further suggested that by mid 2014 Iran will have produced enough centrifuges to produce enough weapons grade uranium quickly for a bomb before we can react, and now 2013 is the year we will likely execute military strikes against Iran.

As for Christians, you seem to care more of the rights LGBT people obtain, than of how many rights Christians lose. That you think the rights of Gays infringe or impede the rights of Christians is really odd. But that's your right. Christians will always have the same rights they've always had, as far as i'm concerned.

Blad, none of that validates your statement, expressed as some sort of fact, that Romney would have started a war with Iran. My statement stands--yours was just more of the usual unsubstantiated and unsupportable hyperbole that constitutes most of your posting on this board.Too true. I don't know for sure that Romney would lead us to war with Iran. I'm just pretty sure that there's a much, much better chance that he would than Obama. But you know more than me. Throwing up strawmen now? Sarcasm and blatant ad hominem is probably all you can offer when someone confronts you with a factually based argument. Really, Blad. If by saying a war with Iran you're implying Iran is an ally, I think there's a good chance with President Obama. If you mean fighting against Iran, I suspect we will not fight with Iran in President Obama's second term. Struck a nerve? Didn't like being called down for conduct unbecoming of a moderator did you? Work on correcting it. Hey I know they may not pay you for this, but you will show respect to others before you can demand any. Call me names, I'll call you names. Compliment me, and I shall return in kind. You are a fully grown adult human being (presumably) and it is time you learned that just because you have a position of authority, doesn't mean you get to push other people around and name call. Besides, I thought being liberal was all about showing compassion and tolerance. Seem you don't do any of that. Live up to your self imposed title, or drop it.

No one's disputing that, but there's absolutely no evidence to show that the leaders of the conservative movement have interest in anything but advancing the propagation of their ideology, even at the cost of our country. And that is taking more and more and more of their time and energy. Because of this, they have precious little time to spend in their valiant attempt to save the world from the left.

<Now. Where was i? Oh, yeah. I was aiding my "comrades" in Destruction of America.>

Yes there is evidence "that the leaders of the conservative movement have interest in anything but advancing the propagation of their ideology"...

The evidence is the fact they're trying to undo the damage "progressive" agents have done. To say it's at "the cost of the country" is disingenuous, unless you're programmed to think that it will be a liability to the country to empower the individual with the ability to be independent, rather than dependent on a state or political party. Dependency on the governement is promoted by "people" like you, and it's is criminal in my mind that people are tricked into that lifestyle, rather than motivated to seek the reward of pride and self determination.

We know we're having an effect when the left foams at the mouth when shown a picture of Reagan or Sarah Palin. We know what kind of mindless zealots we're faced with when images of marxist sociopath killer Che Guevera appear on the clothing of people who crap all over the place during "peaceful" OWS protests that have to be dispersed violently with chemical agents, and cost cities millions to clean the excrement and filth up.

We know what we're up against in the media where the chaos, crime, and violent rhetoric of OWS is ignored by the media, but one idiot at a Tea Party rally (probably a code pink plant too) is held up to represent them anytime it fits the narative.

Now I don't think you're a bad guy Blad, even though all you do is regurgitate Media-Matters propaganda. You do it because you're programmed that way. No matter how many examples, facts, reason or reality gets presented to you, you will manipulate, take things out of context, invent straw men or argue non-sequiters, you will not allow your fantasy world to be compromised. You actually believe more people will prosper, with the increasingly large hand of government in people's pockets. You actually think we can tax and spend ourselves into success.

My point is that the people holding the ends of the strings that animate you know better, they have an agenda, and it's malevolent at best.
