8) Cheap off the books labor very available.
I will say I was in austin last year and that place has a growing economy for sure. Apparently chips are part of it

Much of Texas's economic success is reliant on oil. I'm not sure they're doing anything special except for accidentally sitting on a natural resource.
Don't get me wrong, I like Texas, Texans and their independent nature. It's an interesting state.

Yes, lots of high tech along the Austin/San Antonio corridor, of course, Houston and Dallas too.

$3B in oil and gas revenues that accrue to the state give it an advantage in keeping business and personal taxes down. It's also among the states with the highest income inequality.
