NBC Reporter Wonders How Long ‘American Majority Will Tolerate Being Pushed Around By A Rural Minority’

NBC News intelligence and national security reporter Ken Dilanian is no stranger to expressing his opinions on social media. Last month, after the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, Dilanian advocated for a change in how senators are allotted to the states.
Now, he’s openly wondering “how much longer the American majority will tolerate being pushed around by a rural minority.”... The Senate was created to represent the states in Washington D.C., which is why each state gets equal representation in the chamber. House seats are allotted by population. In recent weeks, there has been a push by some liberals to create the idea that there is a “popular vote” for total House and Senate elections, something irrelevant in the Constitution... When it was pointed out to Dilanian that the federal government was set up to protect the rights of the minority, he responded that the “premise of America” was slavery.

When will America realize we are in a war with the "Democratic Party". We are battling evil, and the GOP hasn't a clue. However, on the other hand, how clueless of the Left. Rural 'minority'? Want to eat guys? Go ahead. Grow your own food yourself. And then make your own clothes to boot. Urbanites would not survive more than a couple weeks without the 'Rural Minority'.
the Left will figure it out at some point. Civilizations fall, and it's the cities that disappear, not the rural folks. 90% of our food comes from the land that we live on, and we could easily live completely off our land, while feeding hundreds around us. City folks can't say that. They can't tell you where food comes from, where their water comes from, nada... They will be at the mercy of the uncivilized "downtrodden" they claim to want to help, and that will be ugly for them. Meanwhile, we'll be sitting back fishing, ranching, hunting, gardening, and living like the rest of the country doesn't exist.
The difference between a Republic and a Democracy...and why democracies can be dangerous. The urban areas already have higher incomes, more access to goods and services and greatly take advantage of the goods produced by rural areas that they can't do for themselves. This also speaks to federalism and the fact that large population centers should not be trusted to make all the decisions that affect other sovereign states through the coercion of a centralized government. One way to reset the notion of a limited federal government with enumerated (i.e. limited) powers, is by exercising the Constitutional provision in Article V for a Convention of States to restore more power back to people and local governments. The people in NYC can vote for all the bans on sugary drinks they want, but that shouldn't supersede the rights of self-determination for people in other states.

Most of us grow, can, dehydrate and know how to preserve our food. As far as water goes, most of our wells can be used by generator. Heating?... All I have to do is go out my back door for all the wood I might possibly need to cook and heat the house during winter. Do that in the plantation cities.

Rural areas do enjoy disproportionate representation in the US electoral process.

Not everyone's vote is really equal.

We need to stop the super rich from buying elections and buying discourse and unrest.

If ever this country is going to have fair elections again, we must stop billionaires from tossing hundreds of millions into elections like.

Steyer, Soros, Bloomberg, The Koch Bros, Sheldon Adelsen, Bezos and others that are more under the radar.

We need to stop multimillion dollar pacs that send money into different states to buy state elections.

We need the PEOPLE to decide who gets elected not billionaires and their pacs.

Good luck getting that to change. Its highly unlikely that the rich would willingly go along with a plan to keep their influence out of the election process since they have a lot at stake. We'd also have to stop the lobbyists, who are fed by the super rich as well. Not sure we'd ever see that in our lifetime.

Agreed. I'm sure the list is pretty extensive of politicians from both sides politically who have gotten rich.

Government solution to racism and sexism of the past is to discriminate against whites, especially white males . The old lets solve past racism with current legislated racism and sexism. Only a moron would see that as a good plan especially for the long run or in a time when racism and sexism have been greatly reduced. And only one devoid of a moral compass would consider such actions right or defendable. But since we are talking about the government we don't have to worry about common sense, intelligence, long term consequences or morals. And we especially don't have to worry about ANY long term planing.
We actually need an organization to call attention to racism and sexism , especially government sanctioned or legislated racism and sexism against whites, males and especially the all evil all the time white male.
Can you imagine what a strike by whites, or even just white males would do to this country in a week? A month?

How's that?
For one, the Senate. Each state, regardless of its size, gets two seats. That math is quite simple. States like Wyoming have equal representation to states like California, while the population of CA has over fifty times the population. So each vote in Wyoming is worth 50 in California.

The electoral college also disproportionately favours rural states as well. That's illustrated by the fact a candidate can win the popular vote and lose in the electoral college vote.

Of course it does. It's a reciprocal relationship that I don't take for granted.

...but the fact remains, urban centres do subsidize rural ones.

I'm not against rural people. I was simply responding to someone.

That was part of the deal that was made to get the smaller states to sign on. What we could do is dissolve the union and then see who wants to sign on to be in a country with a pure majority vote wins context?

Fair enough, but it does mean some people's votes are worth much more than others. Typically beneficial to rural red states.

How is that corporate domination and cultural shift in anyway related to so called "progressive socialist Marxist Democrats"?

Nixon opened the doors to China and Republican led tax breaks helped Walmart expand into rural America destroying Main Street USA.

I'm not a sheep either. I don't baaa at Walmart.

I don't give a shrimp if some soyboy journalists feel underrepresented. Democrats packed California with illegal aliens inflating the number of House seats there are in California, and forcing Texas to create illegitimate Latino districts.
