The former mayor of New Orleans, largely responsible for the failed response to hurricane katrina, has been indicted for corruption.

Who'd a thunk ??

Federal prosecutors today announced a 21-count indictment against former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, accused of enriching himself as the city struggled to rebuild in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Nagin is accused of using the office of mayor to steer city projects to business associates who, in turn, allegedly paid kickbacks and bribes and flew him on lavish free trips to Hawaii, Jamaica, and Las Vegas.

Nagin was charged with bribery, honest service wire fraud, money laundering, conspiracy and filing false tax returns.

Do a search for the word "Democrat" in the ABC article. Listen for the word "Democrat" in the video. You won't find it on CBS or NBC, either. Oh, right, doesn't matter...if you're a Democrat.

You can bet ol' Ray won't do a day in jail with Eric Holder in the DOJ. 10 bucks says Nagin walks, and keeps most of his ill gotten gains.

The "chocolate city" guy.

The guy who said he wasn't running his office like a politician.

What a shocker.

It was this sort of corruption that made me want to leave Louisiana after law school.

It was this sort of corruption that contributed greatly to the problems related to the hurricane.

Yes.

But also a couple of generations of people stuck in the welfare state. They could do nothing for themselves but ask "when is the government going to help us?"

Gunhaters like you are America haters. Read my signature. George Washington said that. The first American president ever (since Liberals like you don't know anything, I'm educating you) and the only president to have a unanimous win. You want to be dependent on the government. You want to be a slave. You want to leech on the bottom of the well off the dead skincell droppings of people who actually strive to work hard and succeed, and you want to pull the rest of us down with you instead of building the country up.

Never said the US Government is the enemy, clearly: big government, inept Liberal losers with an overwhelming sense of entitlement like you are the enemy.

These days the French law only applies to the civil code, not the criminal code. And not to the federally funded welfare programs.

Define big government?

Does big government include a defense department that is strangling the economy?

Spending, stooge.
Nobody spends like Obama does.

My lack of education? I think not, kid, look at post #11 where you misused "to" where you should have used "too."

You are the uneducated fraud.

We don't have a Department of Defense. We have a Department of Offense. The former would be much cheaper than the latter.

Define big government. How about a government that keeps expanding to take power away from the people? How about a government that keeps raising taxes so they can use taxpayer monies to buy more votes? How about a government with enough power that the Speaker of the House can say, "I don't care if no one wanted this law. We would have passed it anyway." Big government? How about a government with so many so-called entitlements for deadbeats that it cannot possibly be sustained and more on the way.

The Department of Defense, better called by it's original title of the War Department as the big government buggaboo is a fantasy of the left-wing nutjobs.

Estimated spending for 2013:
Total spending -- $6,300,000,000,000
Health Care -- $1,200,000,000,000
Pensions -- $1,100,000,000,000
Defense -- $900,000,000,000
Education -- $800,000,000,000
Welfare -- $600,000,000,000
And for the kicker: $1,575,000,000,000 is for "Remainder". That means, "Other", "Miscellaneous".

I did choose to get figures from a U.S.Gov site so that left-wing nutjobs could genuflect and accept without question.
