Child molesters and their kind generally don't fare well in prisons.

This is not justice. If the state wants to kill then let the state do the killing.

No, it's not justice but I doubt anyone is losing sleep over it tonight.

Maybe? It certainly isn't worse.

No state would consider it justice, and if the perpetrators are known, they're likely to get charged with murder, no?

The State has an obligation to defend those charged with its care. The state failed to protect an inmate. The State prevented the inmate from defending himself. this is not justice.

True.

Law enforcement on all levels has work needing done to improve their system(s).

Many prisons have sex offenders units and keep them separated for this reason

As well they should. Mr V is correct. This is not justice.

I wonder why so many people got hurt. It seems as if someone had a shiv. Three other inmates were seriously injured. Two officers had minor injuries.

So if "shiv boy" knew what he was doing there should have been one dead guy with zero wounded and the victim would be dead or at least bleeding out before the guards got there.

Did the others try to block the guards and if so does that account for these extra injuries?

The person is reprobate. The government should have put this person to death. No they put them with others that may not be and this is what happens. It's like putting a rapist with a woman and then blaming her for killing him.

I am not for anyone getting murdered unless its cut and dried self defense or in the defense of another person.

Pedophilles are disgusting sick humans, they are the most flawed of us all. Still they dont deserve to be murdered when they are not in a position to harm others.

Prison murders are horrific and the entire circumstances are never told. Many times sex offenders are repeatedly raped before they are murdered or tortured.

I agree its not justice and justice had already been served in court

I don't really agree with prison justice, but it really isn't a high priority on things we need to fix.

No one except certain gang members do. It's hard to feel sorry for this guy. However, many non-violent types are forced to live in a violent, criminal world . No matter how awful your offense when we put you in a prison we become responsible for your safety . And in the cases of those non-violents ( again not this dude) it is in societies best interest to provide at least a chance at rehabilitation. Meanwhile we simply build better criminals . Not good for society but really good for government control and growth and the security of prison jobs.

Here is an option (https://dougnoll.com/about-doug-noll/prison-of-peace-project/):

Prison of Peahttps://dougnoll.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Still-3-150x150.jpeg (https://dougnoll.com/talks/still-3/)ce was created in 2010 by Doug Noll and Laurel Kaufer at the request of inmates at Valley State Prison for Women in Chowchilla, CA., the largest women’s prison in the world. Since its inception, Prison of Peace now operates in two California women’s prisons, two men’s prisons, THe Los Angeles County Jail, and internationally in Spain and Greece.

The goals of Prison of Peace are to help inmates develop peacemaking skills to reduce violence and promote peace within their prison community. Prison of Peace is successfully teaching murderers and felons imprisoned for life in the skills of:

Emotional intelligence
Problem-solving
Moral engagement
These goals are accomplished through intensive training in:

Verbal communication/listening
Convening and conducting peace circles
Convening and conducting mediations to resolve conflicts between inmates

The core training curriculum is a two-part, twelve-week program that follows a customized curriculum for mediation training and restorative justice developed by Kaufer and Noll. The training emphasizes interpersonal communications skills especially in high emotion and high conflict situations. Participants are required to attend and participate in up to 84 hours of class instruction, practice the techniques and processes outside of class, write up their experiences and turn in weekly assignments, conduct 5 peace circles, and observe 2 peace circles. If participants continue with the mediation training, they are required to conduct 3 mediations and observe 2 mediations and write up their experiences and observations. All new participants now work with an inmate mentor/coach developed from earlier courses.

It never ceases to amaze me how you can be convicted of something serious enough to lose your freedom but not be on camera at all times when you are outside your cell or the single person shower. In this case maybe it helps and maybe it doesn't. Are they afraid of the illegal actions of non -inmates they might spot?
Hell those of you who live in a city are probably on camera outside your own home more than some prisoners are outside their cell? We could cut the violence and gang activity dramatically. On the other hand revolving door prisons are good for government growth and low unemployment numbers

Nope. Not losing any sleep over this one either.

For all we disagree about I never would of dreamt you would agree with me here. If the government imprisons you they are indeed responsible for your saftey and a few cameras could go a long way. But I think their is fear of some what the cameras might find out about non inmate activity.
