Freshmen Democrats balk at impeaching Trump (https://www.axios.com/donald-trump-impeachment-house-democrats-e38d068b-77a2-4438-b3b7-79961d779b9b.html)

Axios talked to each of the incoming House dems. This is what they found:

The vast majority of freshman House Democrats are not quite ready to "impeach the motherf*cker (https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/04/politics/rashida-tlaib-trump-impeachment-comments/index.html)." Over the last two weeks, Axios reached out to every single one of the 64 new House Democrats, and only a tiny fraction said they were on board with impeachment.

The big picture: There's been a cable news feeding frenzy over the "I" word, fueled in part by freshman Rep. Rashida Tlaib's bleep-worthy call for ousting the president. But the reality is that the vast majority of new House Democrats are right in line with their caucus' leadership; they're uninterested in discussing impeachment before special counsel Robert Mueller finishes his work.

Instead, they emphasized aggressive Democratic oversight, including opening investigations into the president, his campaign and his administration.

By the numbers: Of the 64 new House Democrats:

48 believe Congress should wait for the Mueller report's release before considering impeachment.
7 go a little further, saying that language is "not helpful."
6 support impeaching the president.
3 have not made clear, on-record statements.

So I guess all those stories about a freshman uprising against Pelosi over this were, uh, inoperative.

Can't say I'm surprised.

Wut? Let's see ... there is credible spin, and then there's looking stupid ...

It's interesting that incoming Democrats aren't fouling in lock-step with Pelosi. I see that as more of a possible warning to Democrat leadership.

Completely different.

Freshman Dems demand more power from Pelosi (https://www.politico.com/story/2018/11/27/freshman-dems-power-pelosi-1017536)

A group of newly elected House Democrats are banding together to leverage more power in the next Congress, crafting a letter that calls for greater representation on powerful committees and in midlevel-leadership posts as well as frequent meetings with leadership.

In a letter drafted by Michigan Rep.-elect Elissa Slotkin that‘s being circulated among the incoming freshman class, the new members call on Nancy Pelosi and Democratic leaders to give them slots on the influential Appropriations, Rules, Ways and Means, Energy and Commerce, and Financial Services panels. The letter, obtained by POLITICO, also requests monthly meetings with leadership to “ensure that the legislative priorities of our constituents are heard.”

Dems call freshman's impeachment remarks 'inappropriate' (https://thehill.com/homenews/house/423905-dems-call-freshmans-impeachment-remarks-inappropriate)

House Democrats on Friday pushed back on one of their newest colleagues, who attacked President Trump the previous day by vowing to “impeach the motherf---er.”

...House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), who will lead many of Democrats’ investigations into the Trump administration, also called Tlaib’s comments “inappropriate.”

“One of the things that I've said about my committee, I've said that we will reclaim civility," Cummings told reporters in the Capitol. "You cannot accomplish very much of anything unless you have civility and show respect for your colleagues. And I think those kind of comments do not take us in the right direction.”

Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.), a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, was more succinct: “Everyone should stop this impeachment talk until Mueller comes out with his report.”...

Hmmm
Some of the incoming class do favor impeachment. There were a lot of other issues that were causing the dem leadership headaches as well.

Freshman Democrats: We Don't Want To Impeach Trump, But We're Prepping All The Hearings.....

So, will the new freshman impeach Trump? The clamoring for it has been heard for over a year. So far, the newly elected Democratic House members aren’t really for it, but there’s a catch (via Axios (https://www.axios.com/donald-trump-impeachment-house-democrats-e38d068b-77a2-4438-b3b7-79961d779b9b.html)) [emphasis mine]:

So, whenever Democrats say they’re not on board with impeachment or whatnot, it’s total garbage. They’re just waiting to see if Trump failed to pay a parking ticket in order for them to pounce. They’re waiting in the tall grass. They don’t want to impeach Trump…yet.....snip~

It is not really about impeaching Trump- they know they can't get a conviction. It is about dragging investigations into the next election cycle.

They don't care about the conviction.....they want it down on his record. Just like with the asterisk next to his name. While also stopping his agenda and prepping for the next election.

No, I don't care if he gets impeached.

I want him in prison, so he can "make some new friends".

I'll wait.
