Justin Trudeau CRISIS: Canada PM’s popularity PLUNGES after scandal, Conservatives AHEA
CANADA’S Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is facing a difficult election campaign after a new poll saw the scandal-hit leader’s approval ratings plummet.
Canadians are due to go to the polls in October but Mr Trudeau is battling to maintain his popularity after becoming embroiled in claims his aides pressured former justice minister Jody Wilson-Raybould to ensure construction firm SNC-Lavalin avoided a corruption investigation. The 47-year-old insists there was no wrongdoing but 41 percent of Canadians disagreed with Mr Trudeau in a Leger poll for news agency The Canadian Press. Just 12 percent believed he hadn’t done anything wrong following the allegations which has left his Liberal Party in turmoil.

The poll read even worse for Mr Trudeau on a question regarding which party respondents would vote for in the autumn election.

Leger found 36 percent of people said they would vote for the opposition Conservative party while 34 percent would support Mr Trudeau’s Liberals.

It marks the first time since the 2015 general election the Conservatives have been ahead of the Liberals who were once way out in front in the polls.

The results have left Mr Trudeau’s inner team fearing he could be ousted outright or forced into a coalition government in eight months time.

Fascinating. Do the Canadians like anybody?
They are not generally inclined to indulge in the adulation of national political leaders. That is likely because they are not directly elected by the people but are brought into office because their party wins the election and they are the leader of the party. So, Canadian Prime Ministers are not necessarily specifically chosen, so much as their party is specifically chosen. It is complicated as some people will choose the party based on the leader. Trudeau's father (Pierre Trudeau) enjoyed both more love and more hate during his 15 years, 164 days as Prime Minister (not consecutive years). He was exceptional in the Canadian political landscape in that respect. Junior (Justin Trudeau) was not a politician prior to ascending to the leadership of the Liberal party and basically an unknown quotient. The Conservatives no longer enjoyed the confidence of the Canadian population and the choices were between the Liberals and the NDP (by American standards, the socialist party). Trudeau's youth and inexperience were not considered favorable traits but Canadians were not willing to go further left. So it's not surprising that political scandals stick to him more stubbornly than to a leader with more populist approval.

Yes. They love their terrorists. Will even pay them when they come home after committing acts of terrorism against the US overseas

That's good stuff, Dr. Who. I happen to 'know' a number of Canadians. Mostly via business. Have developed a relationship with some of your Jasper Park Rangers and some guide who loves Trump(lives near Maligne Lake)…..but he's the only one who likes Trump. The remaining 7 or so that I have a relationship with.....hate Trump. Hate Trudeau. And to much humor believe Americans hate them. I have many conversations with a few of them......they don't like those from other provinces, do much kavetching about other provinces, those from Quebec for example, each province seems to have it's own governing ideas, much like our states. But each and everyone of them dislike others enough to be able to explain it. I've always been fascinated with their hatred of Trump because I know it comes from their televisions, there are many sheep in Canada. Many sheep.

Anyone want some real entertainment. Return to the 2016 election night coverage by the CBC. They have some older Gentlemen at the head of the table, then three panelists one being Ashley Banfield from CNN. It is a classic. The hatred and vitriol for Donald Trump. One of the panelists calls him Hitler. Ashley Banfield tries to claim Trump "physically went after me". The panelist that calls Trump Hitler loses it even further. Has 'nothing to lose', makes outrageous statements about our PResident, the hatred so clear....and then man hadn't even been inaugurated yet.

There is something going on in Canada. I understand dislike for Trudeau, I think he's a country variety tulip. But the hatred for the AMerican President....is made up, fake, and manipulated by the Canadian media. There people aren't American. Many times don't know an American. Don't know Donald Trump......but absolutely despise him. Like I said....many sheep in Canada, you even see it on this forum.

It's Trump's personality and history that offends Canadians - particularly his braggadocio. He is also crude and impolite. Canadians may look and even sound very similar to Americans, but they are culturally different.
