One of the most absorbing and divisive careers in the history of mixed martial arts might have just come to an end. Or someone could just be trying to get an upper hand in a negotiation.
Conor McGregor, the controversial former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion, tweeted late Monday night that he has decided to retire from MMA. It’s possible McGregor wasn’t being serious, as you never really know with him.

He has done this before. If the paycheck is big enough he will fight again.

He should have been banned from the sport a long time ago.

For what?

For what?

His conduct out of the ring.

He threw a dolly through a bus that had other fighters on it in an attempt to intimidate Khabib. He injured a fighter on that bus by doing it.

No matter, he'll be back, this is a negotiation tactic.

And he paid his due for that.

He's probably going to be busy fighting sexual assault charges

Nonsense.

what would have been appropriate is a permanent ban from competition and a few years in prison.

The District Attorney disagreed with you. The UFC disagreed with you. And their opinions are the only ones that mattered.

He’s going out on a losing note with multiple millions. Won’t have to listen to him run his mouth endlessly in that potato famine lilt. C ya.

I don't really give a shit about what they think, or about what you think, assuming, you do occasionally think.

The UFC has become like professional wrestling. It is all about the spectacle. It was much better at the beginning, before people like you started watching it and they realized there were a lot of bucks to made by catering to the unibrow crowd.

He was worth too much money.

Its funny that some of the same people who think we really walked on the moon think wrestling is fake . :)..wink wink

It would appear that the man has some difficulty separating his job from his personal conduct. He's a loose cannon and it's time to cut him loose.

Conor is an exceptional fighter due to his striking ability, strategy, and mental game (both before and during fights). His achilles heel is wrestling. That being said, no one keeps their edge after making over $100,000,000 in one fight and having kids. I find him hugely entertaining and respect the way he handles losses.
