Expert: Doubling Americans' Income Taxes Wouldn't Cover Even the Lowest Cost Estimate for Single-Payer HealthcareDemocrats are lying to america like they did with Obamacare, Obamacare screwed up medicare and raised out of pocket costs for seniors and lowered the quality of healthcare.

As House Democrats held their first hearings (https://www.politico.com/story/2019/04/30/medicare-for-all-hearing-1398686) on single-payer healthcare this week, Bernie Sanders lashed out at a CNN host for asking simple questions about the costs of implementing a government-run scheme. The Vermont socialist, who's fallen (https://townhall.com/tipsheet/guybenson/2019/04/30/big-effin-deal-biden-bounces-to-major-lead-in-multiple-primary-polls-n2545601) in the polls, accused Brooke Baldwin (https://freebeacon.com/issues/sanders-accuses-cnn-host-of-using-republican-talking-point-against-medicare-for-all/) of repeating a completely accurate "talking point" from opponents of the idea -- namely, that his plan would uproot private insurance from tens upon tens of millions of Americans:

In fact, these single-payer proposals (favored by nearly every Senate Democrat (https://townhall.com/tipsheet/guybenson/2019/04/11/berniecare-20-somehow-even-worse-than-berniecare-10-n2544634) running for president, and co-sponsored by almost half (https://townhall.com/tipsheet/guybenson/2019/02/28/more-than-100-house-dems-our-healthcare-bill-will-basically-eliminate-private-coverage-eliminate-up-to-two-million-jobs-and-cover-abortion-n2542282) of House Democrats) would outlaw virtually all private insurance in America, ripping away a system on which nearly 180 million Americans currently rely (and are overwhelmingly satisfied (https://townhall.com/tipsheet/guybenson/2019/01/30/friendly-reminder-kamala-harris-singlepayer-scheme-would-rip-healthcare-plans-away-from-177-million-americans-n2540444)).

Sanders also claimed that under his preferred system, in spite of large tax increases, the lopsided majority of people would end up paying less for their healthcare. Some experts strongly disagree (https://twitter.com/Heritage/status/1123278520904552456):

Of course it wouldn't, doubling income taxes not only wouldn't pay for single payer, it would actually, more than likely reduce revenues to the Federal government.
