The above link is old, like 7 years old. However, I have been thinking given the Fed's power to seriously influence interest rates, inflation and even employment, there strong connections to Wall Street Banks and the influence they have exerted upon them by government: How the hell do they and all that fit into a "free market" or "capitalism"?
This article was from 2012. A few years before this they kept lowering the interest rate into the teeth of an out of control housing market until it predictable broke.
How does a central bank with this power and potential for cronies to pick winners and losers under government influence fit into our ideal of a free market?

Just think of the Fed Res as a branch bank for the World Bank............that should give you greater access to your suspicions, and rightly so.

All by memory

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies... If, the American people, EVER allow, private banks to control the issue of THEIR currency, First by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property, until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Father's conquered"

- Thomas Jefferson , 1802
