In a break from the republican party, Rep. Jusin Amash has become the first Republican lawmaker to maintain that President Trump has committed impeachable offenses and his Attorney General William Barr misrepresented the Mueller report.

"Michigan Rep. Justin Amash became the first Republican lawmaker to declare that President Donald Trump committed impeachable offenses and that Attorney General William Barr “deliberately misrepresented” special counsel Robert Mueller’s report.Amash, whose libertarian views often put him at odds with Trump and his fellow Republicans, posted a series of tweets (https://twitter.com/justinamash/status/1129831615952236546) Saturday afternoon outlining positions that even some Democrats have been unwilling to embrace — an extraordinary development that comes as Democratic leaders face increasing pressure from progressives to launch impeachment proceedings."

Comment isn't required when eye-rolls will do the job.

Sounds like the GOP has to find someone to smash Amash in the primary.

Hulk smash!

45, I watched this show on Showtime today..3 or 4 episodes of it. I guess the show was from back in the spring/summer of 2018. It's called the The Fourth Estate. I've never watched it before until today.

What is fascinating, knowing that this show was produced for TV at the height of certainty of Trump's collusion with Russians, is that it was all a media farce. Watching these 'so called' reporters at the New York Times just sitting and salivating for the next anti-Trump suggestion to come across the wire is so revealing. I find it curious Showtime is airing this series today, why? What I saw in this series was a paper predisposed to bias and innuendo, and frankly an appetite to portray gossip or heresay as fact.

He's probably getting ready to run against Trump in the 2020 primary.

I've said this before and I'll say it again; almost all media in the United States are commercial ventures and their primary goal is to make money for their shareholders, all else is secondary. As part of achieving that goal, they all have their target audiences and as such tailor their editorial policies in line with that goal. Objective reporting went out the window over 4 decades ago and the news industry has morphed into what it is today.

So what all this means is that you will have media organizations whose editorial policies are slanted towards the democrats, some will be slanted towards republicans and some towards other varied interests. It's like saying there is something for everyone--also known as--user friendly media.

As far as the showtime network airing this series on trump, again its all about money; Americans love hearing dirt on people, especially well known people. dirt sells in this country, that's why you have media publications like the Globe and National Enquirer & other media outlets that seem to do so well. The NYT is no different then Breitbart, they both are in business to make money, just their target audience and editorial policies are different. They might portray heresay as fact if it sells and/or generates ratings.

That's our news media today like it or not.

Amash appears to be a kook.

Let's see. Between you and Rep. Amash, one of you has advocated for the legal exclusion of all liberals from public office, and for - at various times - the rounding up, imprisonment or execution of politicians whose views differ from your own (or from DJT's) and of judges who make decisions you don't agree with.

I agree that one of you certainly sounds like a kook.

45, so you are saying that the NY Times is just another greedy rag in a sea of greedy rags like all the rest. That they've forfeited the mantle of being the gold standard objective journalism. And for that fact, the Washington Post has done the same. And Morning Joke is simply that, a joke. That CNN, ABC, and NBC are the same. The gals on the morning shows...all of them. It's all just a big lie, just a show.

There is no gold standard objective journalism and hasn't been for decades and this includes the Washington Post, New York Post, NYT, LA Times, Brietbart, The Sentinel and all of the other print/internet/cable news operations (Including but not limited to CNN, Fox News, CBN, MSNBC, Inforwars) and the traditional over-the-air Networks (ABC, CBS, NBC & Fox) and any for-profit-news entity.

then what do you call this state America is in. I argue for individual responsibility.

I don't hear any Democrat calling for individual responsibility. All I hear them calling for is higher taxes so they can dictate whether you get this or that. That the politicians decide your life. This is socialism/communism. Benjamin Franklin warned against a stupid population falling for this crap.

Amash and his family have extensive business ties to China. If Trump dropped the trade war with them, he would be kissing Trump's shoes instead of calling for his impeachment.

Most of my IRL friends are libs with exception of a few far right wing indoctranated at birth types. I typically avoid politics with any of them but today I got dragged into the impeachment joke with a lib. Actually he talks to loud so I shut him out completely. After his CNN parrot session I said " hey lets grab some Chinese food" lol. It was out of character for me to display mediocre manners but his rhetoric was laughable. The punch line ? Hes by far the most socially adept and intelligent lib I socialize with and he is still a complete idiot.

We've got a few here as well.

I'm always impressed by the Membership who cry about capitalism, speak of the urgent necessity to solve all of these sky is falling problems. They do so in relative peace and prosperity surrounded by corporate products, using corporations and technology indeed to send their freedom of speech proclamations in these boards...…they've no appreciation nor awareness. They take their rights and prosperous quality of life for granted. They'll take time out from the Twitter and Facebook Accounts, minimize their Netflix and Amazon accounts..in order to pick their Apple technology up and type a forum thread about how bad they have it, how they're a victim, how unfair life is......in reality....they're clueless. And blessed. And too stupid to know it.
