The House Intelligence Committee will not enforce a subpoena against Attorney General William P. Barr as planned Wednesday, after the Justice Department agreed at the 11th hour to produce the redacted material and underlying information from the special counsel’s report that the panel sought, albeit more slowly than it wanted.

Rep. Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.), the committee’s chairman, announced the deal in a statement Wednesday morning. He warned that the subpoena “will remain in effect and will be enforced should the Department fail to comply with the full document request.”

Schiff added that he expects the “initial production” of providing the committee with 12 categories of counterintelligence and foreign intelligence material from special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s probe of election interference by Russia would “be completed by the end of next week.”

and so it goes.

The House Intelligence Committee will not enforce a subpoena against Attorney General William P. Barr as planned Wednesday....snip~

The House Intelligence Committee subpoenaed the Justice Department on May 8 for Mueller's full report and counterintelligence materials with a deadline of May 15.

Under threat of yet another contempt vote (https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/congress/house-panel-cites-barr-for-contempt-over-redactions-in-mueller-report) or other punishment against Attorney General William Barr, the Justice Department threatened (https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/congress/doj-citing-barr-contempt-vote-threatens-to-cut-off-negotiations-with-congress-over-mueller-report) on Tuesday to cut off negotiations with the panel. The agency had also offered to allow members of both the House and Senate intelligence panels to view a less-redacted version of Mueller's report without grand jury information.

The Democrat-led House Judiciary Committee, which voted (https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/congress/house-panel-cites-barr-for-contempt-over-redactions-in-mueller-report) to cite Barr for contempt of Congress this month along party lines, has been less successful in their push to view all of Mueller's findings. The vote came after the Trump administration asserted executive privilege (https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/congress/white-house-asserts-executive-privilege-over-full-mueller-report) over the materials from the unreleased Mueller investigation. The counterintelligence material sought by the House Intelligence Committee are not covered by executive privilege......snip~

Barr Blinks? Followed by the actual truth. A deal was reached. So Schiff Blinked? Last I checked a deal is made by at least 2 parties.

Typical Horseshit post spinned to someones liking!

I doubt Barr is that concerned about the House. "Did you bring your handcuffs Nancy?" Seems scared.

Updated on: May 22, 2019 / 9:29 AM / CBS News

Officials from the House Intelligence Committee and Department of Justice have reached a formal agreement to turn over documents relating to special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation. Committee Chair Rep. Adam Schiff released a statement early Wednesday announcing that the Justice Department had accepted the committee's offer as a "first step towards compliance with our subpoena."

Another interesting perspective.

I would say that Barr had more incentive to deal than Schiff.

Schiff hasn't taken the subpoena or the contempt charge off the table either.

So, yeah, Barr blinked.

Negotiation working they way they are intended to work. It's so unusual now some people can't recognize it when it happens.

Its May 22nd. 7 days after the deadline. Barr said I will be nice, and winked.

That's winked.....not Blinked.

I don't blame Dems on the committee for wanting every talking point they can gather. We roasted Clinton so let them have their bonfire as well. Trump gave that impromptu news conference this morning touting his complete innocence in the matter and how transparent his office has been getting out in front of the thing. It should be a good show and boon to Trump's re-election campaign just like Clinton's.

I agree. The Democrats should keep it up. Don't stop. Keep digging. Keep calling the same people to tell them the same things. It'll work for them.
