There is actually a really cool story behind tulips in Canada.

Canada sheltered Princess Juliana of the Dutch royal family during the time the Nazis occupied the Netherlands. The Princess was going to deliver a baby, so our country briefly declared a hospital in Ottawa as international territory in order to respect their laws about how the Dutch royal family have to have Dutch citizenship, (being born in a Canadian hospital would have made Princess Margriet Canadian). As a gift, the Dutch sent 100,000 tulip bulbs to Canada after the war, and has continued to send 20,000 every year. Thus, the Canadian Tulip Festival was born in Ottawa.

There's also the Dutch Tulip Bubble of 1637. ...housing bubble, education bubble...how little we learn! Oops, off topic. :-P

Yep. We learned about that (Tulip bubble) in school. It's pretty amazing.

Congratulations, Adelaide! I figured it was only a matter of time before they snagged you as a Mod, given how bright you are, your ethics, and your helpful knowledge of VBulletin. You'll be a GREAT mod!

When I lived in Europe, I visited the formal tulip gardens, the Keukenhof, in Lisse, Holland. Only open 2 months of the year and absolutely gorgeous!

I love the trees in that photo. We have one like that on our front lawn.

Cherry?

Adelaide

Cherry?

I think so. The previous owner was pretty much an obsessive gardener and we have all sorts of weird shit growing in the front and back. We also have a water feature with a headless statue that has water coming out of the neck since the neighbour kids beheaded it. I said we should dye the water red and then put the head on their porch, but no one liked that plan. :(
