Obama is caught lying. Here is proof sequester came from White House

http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/bob-woodward-obamas-sequester-deal-changer/2013

The president and Lew had this wrong. My extensive reporting for my book “The Price of Politics (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1451651104/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=1451651104&linkCode=as2&tag=slatmaga-20)” shows that the automatic spending cuts were initiated by the White House and were the brainchild of Lew and White House congressional relations chief Rob Nabors — probably the foremost experts on budget issues in the senior ranks of the federal government.
Obama personally approved of the plan for Lew and Nabors to propose the sequester to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.). They did so at 2:30 p.m. July 27, 2011, according to interviews with two senior White House aides who were directly involved.
Nabors has told others that they checked with the president before going to see Reid. A mandatory sequester was the only action-forcing mechanism they could devise. Nabors has said, “We didn’t actually think it would be that hard to convince them” — Reid and the Republicans — to adopt the sequester. “It really was the only thing we had. There was not a lot of other options left on the table.”

Just the other day this hot potato was blamed on Boehner:

But here’s the thing. I happened to come across an old email that throws cold water on House Republicans’ attempts to call this “Obama’s Sequester.”

It’s a PowerPoint presentation that Boehner’s office developed with the Republican Policy Committee and sent out to the Capitol Hill GOP on July 31, 2011. Intended to explain the outline of the proposed debt deal, the presentation is titled: “Two Step Approach to Hold President Obama Accountable.”

@ The PowerPoint That Proves It’s Not Obama’s Sequester After All (http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/02/20/the-powerpoint-that-proves-it-s-not-obama-s-sequester-after-all.html)

Oops.

This sort of hot potato politics on both sides lacks responsibility. The debt is out of hand, these guys blame each other, then leave town.

Proves nothing. Obama and Reid did not agree with Boehner but the GOP agreed with the White House rendition. You can't disprove Woodward and he has facts to back it up

Yea, sorry I wasn't clear, the oops goes to the Daily Beat Powerpoint story that got it wrong. Their date is July 31, 2011, Woodward pins the Obama/Lew/Nabors to July 27, 2011.

Still, I think, neither is acting responsibly.

It is sort of funny how Woodward leaves a lot of the juicy stuff to his books, rather than he columns. WAPO (Washington Post) is really ticked off when he does that.

I can't believe you guys are more worried about who's idea it is, rather who's going to allow it to happen.

Who is concerned about that?

It seems that most people are only concerned with ideas that work, rather than pander to voters.

They are playing politics instead of representing the people. This is why I vote third party

We are showing the President has no integrity and is a liar about this issue

If Obama wants cuts lets cut these over paid government employees

Despite record federal debt, municipal bankruptcies and a nagging global recession, those executives enjoy pay packages that are out of reach of most Americans who pay their salaries. MRIGlobal and Alliance tax documents obtained by Watchdog show most earned well into six-figures:

Dan Arvizu, Alliance president and NREL director

2010: $928,069
2009: $691,570
2008: $652,159

Bobi Garrett, NREL senior vice president of Outreach, Planning and Analysis

2010: $524,226.
2009: $398,022

William Glover, NREL deputy lab director and CEO (retired)

2010: $557,571
2009: $407,361
2008: $315,465

Catherine Porto, NREL senior vice president

2010: $406,339
2009: $223,553
The budget to manage Alliance is mind-boggling — and rising. For 2010, tax documents show, Alliance received $532.9 million from the Department of Energy, a whopping $189 million more than they were paid in 2008.
In 2010, MRIGlobal’s tax return shows DOE funding of $104.8 million, while Battelle’s tax return reported $4.55 billion in government grants. Its activities included management of five national laboratories (including NREL) and operating as subcontractor at a sixth.
