Excluding the last group, all those groups are better off because of the economic freedom that allows that hedge fund manager to make so much money.

The median American income for a family of four is $59,981
http://www.census.gov/hhes/www/income/data/statistics/4person.html

60,000 familes at that income would be $3,598,860,000.
I do not believe that you ad is based on fact. Can you site a hedge fund manager that makes 3 and 1/2 billion a year.

Of course the other option is to allow "big government " to tax all of us more so that they can manage it and invest it into more companies like LG Chem. (You know the one where $150,000,000 evaporated. And they did not produce one battery.)

I especially like the part where it says, to be fair, paulson invests his intire fortune in his fund???

Meaning that his payout comes largely from the fact that he made great choices in managing his fund, and the people that invested with him, including retired people and pension funds mad a crap load of money too!

I love the fact that Dems want to raise the taxes on capital gains, a policiy that Warrne Buffet is totally opposed to! He could care less what you raise his imcome tax rate too, because he makes very little of his money in actual income.

And the people that the increased taxation of capital gains will hurt the worst is people that hve retired, and are trying to live off 401K plans and fixed incomes.

Much like the latest increase on taxing the rich, which also saw the payroll tax increase on 77% of americans taking an average of 40 dollars a week out of the average americans pocket. Dems know that the only people that can't shelter themselves from high taxation, is the poor and middle class.

if the max salary is dictated by the government, then the price for services from individuals is in effect capped also .. true ? ( e.g. the cost of say, a consultancy fee that an individual could charge an institution ) So...what should this number be ? Opinions ?

Why would you ever consider capping how much money someone can make?

And what business does the government have in how much that I make.

And last what incentive would anyone have to risk capital, if the rewards were limited

I would never consider it.

However, there are those who believe all sorts of things regarding how money should work, and the hedge fund mgr. scenario comes up a lot. As i understand it, this person's contribution to society (or some other criteria , not sure who/how merit gets assigned .. production <?>) is not considered to be "fair." I just want to hear from someone who is of this ilk --- how much is fair ? What's the most you would pay somebody ? Is there a job( for example) that you may feel is worth $20 million ? (just pulled that out of the air ) To simplify, how much would you pay the hedge fund mgr ? (question directed to proponent of political/social status as driving force for salary level)
