Obama was very specific when he turned down the Keystone Pipeline that he had environmental concerns.
However at no time did he mention that his good friend and supporter, Warren Buffett, just purchased the BNSF railroad which is the only alternative to shipping Canadian oil south to the Gulf.
BNSF turned a 2.5 Billion profit in the first nine months of 2012.

Must be nice to have friends in high places.

Are you talking about the "XL" pipe? That one is the "expansion".

Right the expansion

http://www.nationaljournal.com/congress/keystone-xl-pipeline-just-the-facts-20111208

The above link lets you hear both sides of the argument. You are posting a link tied to Democratic Underground.
Either way the blocking of the pipeline has opened a huge profit cow for Buffett who just happend to purchase the BNSF just before Obama nixed the expansion. It looks like it will pad his pockets to the tune of 3 billion a year.

You know trains can derail and oil would leak. I don't see it that much safer than pipeline.

Canada is going to drill and sell the oil whether the US is involved or not. Much of the environmental risk is going to happen.

I haven't yet taken the time to read any of the links... Has Buffett already been awarded some kind of contract to transport this oil, or is this just some kind of an assumption.

Not that I can see. It appears the pipeline will be rerouted to avoid an environmentally sensitive aquifer. What happens in the meantime is not expressly stated.

The environment is a bullshit excuse of the left to thwart progress, or exploit idiots brainwashed by the ecofascists into demanding policies that end up enriching elite leftists.

It only benefits the oil industry to have a safe pipeline to Texas refineries. The bed wetters can't allow that.

If you check the links I posted you will see what has happened in the meantime. Buffett is getting richer by association with Obama.

Is he? Are you angry with one of the 1% increasing his wealth? Why? Because he doesn't toe the conservative ideology??

Here's a little secret: In politics, no matter what's done, no matter which side of the fence an issue lands, someone's going to make money because of it. So that's pretty much a given. What we should be concerned with is the pros and cons, on every level, and what should be used to make the best decision.

Since the pipeline is going thru our country to benefit international oil conglomerates.... will we get a yearly check like Alaskan's do??????

It's remarkable how you never have a problem with those decisions when they enrich the leftists that fund your causes. If The Koch brothers stood to make a dime you'd be on a rooftop with a rifle.
