View Full Version : Sequestration, Tea Party conspiracy?

Only a socialist, er, social democrat like Robert Reich could spin this conspiracy!

@ Sequestration, Tea Party conspiracy? (http://www.salon.com/2013/03/01/sequestration_tea_party_conspiracy_partner/):

Imagine a plot to undermine the government of the United States, to destroy much of its capacity to do the public’s business, and to sow distrust among the population.

Imagine further that the plotters infiltrate Congress and state governments, reshape their districts to give them disproportionate influence in Washington, and use the media to spread big lies about the government.

Finally, imagine they not only paralyze the government but are on the verge of dismantling pieces of it.

Far-fetched? Perhaps. But take a look at what’s been happening in Washington and many state capitals since Tea Party fanatics gained effective control of the Republican Party, and you’d be forgiven if you see parallels.

Tea Party Republicans are crowing about the “sequestration” cuts beginning today (Friday). “This will be the first significant tea party victory in that we got what we set out to do in changing Washington,” says Rep. Tim Huelskamp (Kan.), a Tea Partier who was first elected in 2010.

Sequestration is only the start. What they set out to do was not simply change Washington but eviscerate the U.S. government...

OK, so it's partly true though he misrepresents the tea parties as leaderful when they are leaderless, grassroots, and--while all thought them down for the count--invincible!!

The federal government ought to be gutted. Federalism.

If sequestration is a Tea Party conspiracy, the Liar In Chief must be a Tea Party member since it was his idea. I see that his grossly dishonest administration finally admitted that yesterday.

Thank you Bob Woodward for exposing yet another ObamaLie.

It is amazing how corrupt the media is in the US.

If you can't acknowledge that anything written by Robert Reich needs to be taken with a grain of salt you aren't really interested in any sort of genuine analysis. Reich is no different than Limbaugh at this point in his career.

Reich lays out the general neosocialist/social democrat position in The Answer Isn't Socialism; It's Capitalism That Better Spreads the Benefits of the Productivity Revolution (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-reich/the-answer-isnt-socialism_b_1491243.html). This sort of redistributive management of capitalism ought to be dismantled as it is wholly unsupported in the Constitution.

And the pathetic truth is that an 85 billion cut is a joke.

If all these Congress #$@ are so worried, then they can cut their own salaries, including the Pres himself, as well as all govt. salaries, which are, on average quite generous, relative to avg. private sector worker salaries.

Instead of eating at 5 star restaurants, sleeping with expensive whores, wearing expensive clothes, driving expensive cars, flying in private expensive jets, taking lavish vacations, and buying large estates, perhaps Congress should be the FIRST ONES on the chopping block.

Does it require a French Revolution chopping block, or can these clowns get it thru their pig heads that the public is POED. We HATE ALL THE DAMN POLITICIANS NOW!! We see them for what they are, a bunch of paid off bastards still trying to peddle their lies about how this or that party or this or that politician is for the people. BULSHIT.

Leave it to Dems and Reps to manufacture a crisis to cover up their management of the budget is a joke.

To manage a budget you have to pass one. Democrats refuse to hold Obama to a budget

Why did you decapitate a bald eagle and serve it on a platter desecrating the American flag and then top it off with glitter??

Right, they won't even put it up for a vote. But it's not just Dems failing to balance the budget:

The White House has admitted that sequestration was President Obama's idea. President Obama has yet to admit he's been lying about it but that's par for the course.

The biggest difference between Reich and Limbaugh is Limbaugh has an audience.

That's fair -- I haven't followed the thread

I was just making a joke and have conflicted feelings about the U.S. flag being represented like that, while at the same time thinking it's a cool animation

I apologize to you and the board

How can you vote on something not brought to the floor?

That is the point. Democrats refuse to have a budget

That's the opposite of your claim: "It has been voted on and the last 2 budgets Obama proposed got no yes votes. Reid refuses to vote on GOP proposed budget"

There have been no vote on any Obama budget because Dems refuse to bring his budgets to the floor to be voted on.

The chart I posted above demonstrates neither Dems nor Reps are serious about a balanced budget. That's the point.

Obama budgets were voted on. No yes votes in either house. Reid is in neglect of his duty by not working with House to get a budget. Democrats are not doing their job

I'll fix it so that it makes sence and is actually fact:

Imagine a plot to undermine the government of the United States, to destroy much of its capacity to do the public’s business, and to sow distrust among the population.

Imagine further that the plotters infiltrate Congress, the judicial branch, state governments, universities, public education and entertainment, reshape their districts to give them disproportionate influence in Washington, and use the media to spread big lies about the government.

Finally, imagine they not only paralyze the government and demonize all efforts at efficiency but are on the verge of dismantling the military.

Far-fetched? Perhaps. But take a look at what’s been happening in Washington and many state capitals since anti-war "progressive" fanatics gained effective control of the Democrook Party and marginalized elitist "Republicans" who just want to hang out at the country clubs, and you’d be forgiven if you see parallels.

Hippies are crowing about the "imperialism" of the country, while driving foriegn "eco"cars. Moonbat contributors are getting richer than ever selling us oil while allowing their paid for congressmen to bitch about it so they can pretend to care but ulimately thwart any real effort to reduce the price in the name of "global warming". Which BTW is another "crisis" manufactured out of a special blend of hot steamy bullshit.

Sequestration is their messiah's "compromise", and he said he would veto a plan without it, it's a crisis they created. Now they're using it to demand the other half of the tax increases they "gave up" to resolve the last "catastorphe" they themselves created.

What they set out to do was not simply change Washington but eviscerate the U.S. Constitution...

Dems and Obama refuse to have the legal budget process go forward. GOP has proposed budgets and Reid kills them instead of trying to come up with compromise.
