"For the second time in history, federal regulators have accused an American state of securities fraud, finding that Illinois misled investors about the condition of its public pension system from 2005 to 2009."

"But in making a nearly unprecedented case of securities fraud against the state, the Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday laid bare a trail of responsibility for Illinois’ nearly $100 billion pension crisis that extends far beyond the impeached ex-governor’s scandalous time in office."

Has Illinois reached the point that it can be considered simply a criminal enterprise?

There is probably a lot more of this out there. Many city and state pension funds have not been properly funded.

My impression as an outsider is that Illinois is synonymous with corruption when it comes to politics. Nothing surprises me.

It reached that point the moment Barack Obama won his first election.

Illinois has been criminal and corrupt my entire life. I lived there when I was in my twenties and the corruption was a joke even then.

Nope, Obama is just the latest in a long, long line of Illinois slimebags. That is a state I'd definitely be happy to give to Canada.

I'd like to turn it over to the Georgia and Alabama National Guards.
