Helper Utah (AP)
The new mayor of the Utah city of Helper got a little help from LADY LUCK
Ed Chavez Jr and councilman Kirk Morasco each received two votes from the common council to fill the vacant seat
When it became clear the TIE would not be broken 2 slips of paper bearing each name into a wicker basket
City attorney Gene Strate then drew Chavez's name from the basket officially making him the new mayor
Chavez will be filling the rest of Dean Armstrong term which expires in January 2014
Armstrong resigned February 23 the day after his third drunk driving arrest

I've been through this town, driving 191 between Moab and Provo. Believe me, if you lived in a place like this you'd drink too. We're talking major boonies here.

Well ya know in the big City you can probably get away with DUI even survive a sex scandal but in small towns people expect the Mayor to be a SOLID CITIZEN

(AP) doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot without a link.
For example:
Adelaide made President of the universe (AP)

Obviously, no Democrats here. Otherwise there would have been 137,974 votes cast, with four eligible voters, and 537 attorneys would be slugging it out in court.

I'm going to be lobbying you for a less restrictive law of gravity. Good luck getting that one through the Europan Senate though.
