There’s a lot of hype going around about ObamaCare, and by now you are probably getting mixed information about what the law actually is and how it will affect you. The purpose of this post is to lay out the basic facts in plain English so you know exactly what to expect as this reform takes effect over the next few years. However, before we get started, allow me to clarify a few very important things about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as “ObamaCare.”

ObamaCare will not use your tax dollars to fund abortions
ObamaCare is not and will not lead to a government takeover of health care
ObamaCare will not increase the national debt or deficit
ObamaCare does not hurt health insurance companies, but actually increases their business
ObamaCare is not unconstitutional
ObamaCare is not socialism
ObamaCare is NOT Government-Run Health Care
This is the biggest, and perhaps most dangerous, misconception about ObamaCare, and I want to debunk this myth from the very beginning. Despite what many Republicans and Tea Party members are claiming, ObamaCare is not government-run health care

Not government-run, that's old-timey socialism, but government-managed, social democracy, the new normal in socialism.

Put whatever labels you want on the POS, just let free men have the right to opt out in both funding and benefits. Same with SS.

Obamacare has provided an excuse for the healthcare insurance companies to come up with many more reasons to justifies rate increases and higher deductibles. Many businesses are cutting hours to avoid having to provide insurance. It is providing revenue for the government in all those new taxes plus all the fines they will be collecting from people and businesses that don't obtain coverage.

It has provided an opportunity for all of our medical records to be viewed for information for statistics. We have lost our privacy and our rights of how we want to live our lifestyle since it will cost us if we don't conform. It has provided an incentive for people that are in poor health to not work and get on Medicaid since it would be cheaper in the long run verses employment health coverage.

It will provide incentives to state governments to try to enforce healthier lifestyle guidelines for their population to reduce cost in healthcare spending. However they will not ban tobacco products since this is how states pay their portion of healthcare costs for Medicaid. They refuse to put any restrictions on what food stamps can buy that eliminates junk food.

The Federal or State exchange will not add to the deficit but the medicaid expansion will increase rapidly and also will be a burden to states already struggling to meet their budgets. Medicaid is the second highest expense for all state governments and with the expansion it is going to exceed public education costs in the future.

What they will do and are doing is reducing long term care for the elderly that are in nursing homes. The government is raising Part A and B deductibles so many elderly will not be able to obtain healthcare. The healthcare insurance companies are also doing this to the 18-64 age group too by raising deductibles so we can't afford healthcare.

They are making healthcare only affordable to the higher income levels and free to all of the below poverty line levels while the middle class ends up paying for it all but not able to get healthcare due to high deductible costs.

Thanks Bigred1cav for your view on "Obama Care", and you may be correct.
But, what I see is the government institutionalizing a insurance & medical care monopoly that everyone is forced to pay for either direct or through governed-ment funds.

When the goverment say I have to due something or I will pay a penalty then it is goverment run and we all know that the goverment can't run anything. If they took over the beer industry a 6 pack would cost $50 by the end of the month. I fogot that they would have goverment employee so it might be more.

There were plenty of healthcare reform plans drafted by conservatives. They were all wholly ignored in the rush to jam the current legislation down our throats.

That's interesting, the individual mandate has proven effective yet it's not slated to take effect till 2014.

The mandate will only apply to those that receive a paycheck and/or file taxes since this is the only way they can monitor the mandate.

And, in case you're wondering, this non-government run healthcare system is not requiring employers to include birth control expenses in the health care coverage. No, that is just another myth. I'm sure it will be on this left-wing blog before long.

Oh, the wonderful non-intervention in the insurance industry has not resulted in no insurance being available for primary care for people over 65. No, I can just go out and buy health insurance on the open market, can't I? Actually I can't. Thank you, Washington. So, when the individual mandate kicks in, what do I do? Oh, right, I pay the government to be on the government-run Medicare program.

"Can I Still Choose My Own Doctor?Yes. In fact, the new protections under ObamaCare will make it so that you will have access to more doctors and better doctors. "

I am amazed that even BigRed considers horseshit a means of counteracting declared myths. Wait. I'm not amazed. This left-wing progagranda blog is horseshit. Wow, you're going to have access not only to more doctors but better doctors. And it's all going to cost less. I suppose the pathologically gullible will buy this.

Now that is the truth and that is whats wrong with Obamacare. That monster was written in minutes by congressional standards. It seemed to be a bill thrown together by reading slips of paper sent to pelosi by other democrats in the house to put in what they want. They slapped the whole thing together and no one knows what the hell is in it to this day and everyone is having trouble understanding how to implement it.
As I see it obamacare is going to be totally ineffective, because not all states are going to implement it.
Actuall the entire south isnt implementing it. You cant write a federal bill into law and say Ok each state can follow it or not. Its doomed to fail or be totally ineffective.
Imho, there needs to be a bipartisan group to come up with a plan both can live with and make it the law of the land.
Everyone has to remember WE PAY for everyones health care right now and its costing us alot more than it would with a federal health plan. We cover illegals right now and we have been.

Obamacare is on shaky ground without being able to add Florida and Texas for the Medicaid expansion. The South has 20 million that are uninsured.
