"Within the president’s budget — which would produce a $744 billion deficit in 2014 — are roughly $800 billion in new taxes, including a higher levy on tobacco products. Obama’s proposal would raise taxes on cigarettes by 94 cents per pack, up to $1.95. From the Rose Garden on Wednesday, the president said such taxes were nonnegotiable if Republicans wanted the White House and Democrats to agree to cut entitlement programs."

Since President Obama starts negotiations by announcing what isn't negotiable it would probably be easier if he would identify something, anything, that is negotiable.

Raising taxes is negotiable with the ObamaFools. That will solve everything, right? Of course they wouldn't just piss away the new revenues, would they?

Naw. . . . .

I agree with you Patrict the cigarette tax is a left wing wish. Obamas budget will fail and lose him support from seniors for one.

from the article, this indicates republicans are seeking to rob americans social security checks --> From the Rose Garden on Wednesday, the president said such taxes were nonnegotiable if Republicans wanted the White House and Democrats to agree to cut entitlement programs.

.here
and democrats are defending americans social security checks --> Obama is taking heat from Republicans for the proposed tax increases and being battered by the left for recommending reductions in spending on Social Security.

this is effing scary, I find myself supporting a lefty/democrat position. I need to mark this day on the calendar. I haven't done that since the Viet Nam war ended.

Higher cigarette taxes will help Native American cigarette producers and marketers.
After we've gambled and smoked our lives away, the Injuns can buy America back.

You're right, Nic. Obama will never change. He simply isn't very bright. Throws a helluva party, though.

The government wants to reduce the population of the elderly and what better way to do this is to reduce their benefits and increase their liability.

Since I don't receive Social Security or Medicare the government has less incentive to kill me than they do with others.

So, you have no opinion on whether or not President Obama should give a hint on what might be negotiable?

According to Bureau of Labor Statistics figures examined by CNN, he understated the net number of private jobs created under Democratic administrations and overstated the number of jobs created in GOP eras.
But the ratio is basically correct: A net increase of 44.7 million jobs created during the Kennedy, Johnson, Carter, Clinton and Obama administrations, compared to a 23.3 million figure during the Nixon, Ford, Reagan and both Bush administrations.

I think that I would agree with this!

JFK was a tax cutter and was famous for ask not what your country can do for you (free stuff) but what you can do for your country (personal responsibility

LBJ had the military industrial complex going great guns to fuel the Vienam war, plus we took 55,000 men out of the work force that were killed in that war!

Carter left Reagan with the same type of disaster that the housing collapse left Obama So he created almost no jobs.

Clinton was coming off a smoking hot ecnomy created by the reagan tax cuts, with only a small blip when Read my lips raised taxes!

He also gave a huge tax cut to the rich when he lowered capital gains tax in 1996

And Obama has yet to really create his first job!

So if you look at the policies, Clkntons tax hike on the rich, those making over 35K slowed the ecnomy causeing him to give a huge capital gains cut to the rich!

JFK was a tax cutter

LBJ was a wartime president!

I think it would be easy to see why!
