Joe Manchin says the Obama gun bill does not have the votes in the Senate.

The “assault weapons” ban was deleted and now it looks like the background check thing is dead, too.

I suspect Manchin and Toomey got a real talking-to from the NRA over the weekend as well as an earful for the folks back home.

Of course a background check extension is DOA in the House.

The gun grabbers have the same problem as the Warmers. What they propose is all pain and no gain for the people. Maybe if they had LBJ’s Hill smarts they could have pulled this off by offering the people something back in return – like maybe a repeal of the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments and the chance to get some jobs back.

But the Mahdi and his flunkies figured they could ram something down the people’s throats.

That didn’t work.

They better lay low between now and Senate elections, rile up the hunters enough, and Mary Landrieu, key bribeable vote, is out.

Hopefully she is out anyway.

It's a great little distraction from all those people losing their full time jobs as a result of ObamaCare, though.

It isn't the NRA that matters. It is the voters. Otherwise, there are plenty of dems and enough repubs to pass almost any anti-gun legislation.

There you go, and another campaign for the eternally campaigning President.
