An eighth grade student from W Va. has been suspended, arrested, and is facing charges (http://www.wowktv.com/story/22020264/8th-grade-student-arrested-over-gun-t-shirt)for wearing an NRA (http://www.examiner.com/topic/nra) shirt to school (http://www.examiner.com/topic/school) on Thursday. The shirt, which Jared Marcum never considered would cause a problem, had an image of a firearm on it, along with the words, “Protect Your Right”. Police confirmed that Jared (http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/04/19/8th-grader-arrested-suspended-for-nra-protect-your-right-t-shirt-with-image-of-gun/), a young man with an otherwise spotless record, had been arrested and was facing charges of obstruction and disturbing the education process after Jared got into an argument with a teacher at Logan Middle School (http://www.examiner.com/topic/middle-school).

"I never thought it would go this far because honestly I don't see a problem with this, there shouldn't be a problem with this," Jared said (http://www.wowktv.com/story/22020264/8th-grade-student-arrested-over-gun-t-shirt).

Jared’s father, Allen Lardieri, expressed indignation at the school. He had to rush from work to pick his son up from jail over a shirt. "I don't' see how anybody would have an issue with a hunting rifle and NRA put on a t-shirt, especially when policy doesn't forbid it," Lardieri said (http://www.wowktv.com/story/22020264/8th-grade-student-arrested-over-gun-t-shirt). "He did not violate any school policy," Lardieri stated (http://www.wowktv.com/story/22020264/8th-grade-student-arrested-over-gun-t-shirt). "He did not become aggressive." Lardieri said he will fight until the situation is made right. "I will go to the ends of the earth, I will call people, I will write letters, I will do everything in the legal realm to make sure this does not happen again," Lardieri said (http://www.wowktv.com/story/22020264/8th-grade-student-arrested-over-gun-t-shirt).

School dress code in link for anyone interested.

Censor everything that has to do with the founding of a country. That is how you ruin it. Pro 2nd Amendment shirt? You can't wear that to an educational facility. Direct orders from the Messiah.

And Obama, he does not get a photo-op with every victim and victim's family he can find, and use it for his gun control position?

I wouldn't be surprised if a kid wore an American flag on his tee shirt be expelled for being offensive to foreigners in this country. That is how the liberals think. They are still debating the fact that the two bombing suspects being Muslim had any role in their placing Muslim designed bombs in a crowd at the Boston Marathon.

I am sure it had nothing to do with the religion of peace, and these typical males were just substituting bombs for penises that were not being used.

The Logan County School District's dress code policy prohibits clothing that displays profanity, violence, discriminatory messages and more but nowhere in the document does it say anything about gun images.

Don't ask me to explain anything that goes on in West Virgina

Some say he won just because he's black.
First election, of course... but this last one too ? Who knows.
Anyway... I don't think "mind control" when I think of today's left.

You know I don't know if I totally disagree with that. WE have some massive flooding in mid MI and there are homes that were suposed to ahve pruchased the federal flood insurance. THEY DID NOT!

Now there is a program for them to get federal money to rebuild their home, and the neighbor that did by the insureance has to pay a deductable and had to pay all of his premiums and will get the same benifit as his free loading neighbor!

It is not right!

Does it cause hundreds of thousands of lost healthcare jobs?
Does it force small businesses to lay off and cut hours?

Speaking of suspension, funny story actually, but more about the 1st amendment and it may actually surprise some of you...

When I was in high school I reported/wrote for our school's newspaper from my freshman year till my senior year, and then my junior/senior year I was made editor. When the newspaper was done and ready to be printed, it was a bi-weekly, I had to bring a copy to the vice principal who would then read it and have me remove or change things that he didn't like or didn't feel was best for the school. Up until that point it was basically just news about what was new for the school, sports scores, and stuff like that, so kind of lame.

However, when I became editor I added in an opinion page for students to submit articles to me about anything that they wanted as long as it wasn't ridiculous or really offensive and then I'd pick the ones that I liked and of course I'd also add in an occasional opinion pieces that I would write as well. Needless to say the VP was not a fan of the opinion page that I added since students would often use it to rant or something about the school, policies, politics, or the community, but most of the time the articles were fair and gave us a platform basically that we didn't have before which was really cool and got a lot of positive feedback from students.

So basically for two weeks I'd put in all of that effort to get it looking the way I wanted and full of articles, opinions, and stuff like that and bring it to the VP, and like clockwork every time he'd X out most of the opinion pieces as being too provocative or not being in the best interest of the school's image. Well after a while I got tired of him shutting out the opinions of students and messing with my newspaper so I basically stopped erasing the articles that he would x out. He'd mark it off and I'd just type it out anyway. I actually got away with it for about four or five newspapers before he found it. I was suspended for three days and wasn't allowed to edit the newspaper for the rest of that semester. My parents weren't thrilled and they grounded me and told me to apologize to the VP, however, they did tell me that they agreed with my protest just not the way that I did it.

My point is that in spite of my hatred for guns and the gun culture in this country I don't think that this 8th graders 1st amendment right should be challenged like that. I'd much rather his shirt have a gun on it than him have a real gun in his hands while at school.

Kinda the point of "mandtory" isn't it?

Does it cause hundreds of thousands of lost healthcare jobs?

Does flooding kill healthcare workers?

Does it force small businesses to lay off and cut hours?

Sure does if they are flooded!

Do more than 52% of Americans wish it was repealed?

62% of Americans also support a “universal health insurance program, in which everyone is covered under a program like Medicare that’s run by the government and financed by taxpayers”....

Probably is. My neighborhood in Colorado flooded and all but four houses were required to have flood insurance. It didn't pay off. Loopholes galore. That will be Obamacare, too.

Nope, not in the slightest; sorry if it appeared that way. More a knee-jerk response to the idea that suppressing a political T-shirt is somehow a "regulation" of the Second Amendment, rather than a straight up violation of the First. As a student myself (poli-sci undergrad), I've had some embittering experience with how many leftist-academics' notions of "freedom of expression" (which I agree with) are often completely forgotten should someone dare to express anything which is not consistent with their ideological assumptions.

That similarly expresses how I felt when it was necessary to have a meeting w/ my son's 12th grade science teacher that was offering ID as an equally accepted scientific alternative...
which it is not...
