View Full Version : Lawmakers trying to exempt themselves from Obamacare

Congressional leaders in both parties are engaged in high-level, confidential talks about exempting lawmakers and Capitol Hill aides from the insurance exchanges they are mandated to join as part of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul, sources in both parties said.

The talks — which involve Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), the Obama administration and other top lawmakers — are extraordinarily sensitive, with both sides acutely aware of the potential for political fallout from giving carve-outs from the hugely controversial law to 535 lawmakers and thousands of their aides. Discussions have stretched out for months, sources said.

American Idol Nation reaps what it sows, 14% approve of Congress, 96% of Congressional incumbents seeking re-election are returned to office.

This is a country of the people, by the people, and for the people.

The people have shit their own nest, and now must wallow in it.

No one spends more time Flying in and out of Washington on the Tax payers Dime than these funking idiots. Now they expect everyone to forget they are the ones who caused the problem for everyone but themselves ... now they don't want to be inconvenienced with flight delays, while there are lotteries going on to determine what child gets to go to Pre-School.

Fuck them All ... Democrats and Republicans.

Their pay should be cut 25%, because a furloughs don't mean jack-shit to people who work less than 25% of the year for 100% pay.

and ... exempt themselves from Obamacare?

They already get a lot of FREE SHIT

Yea ... Free Health Care for those who don't have it.

Now go do me a favor ... go beat your chest, sing patriotic songs, wave the flag and pledge allegiance to The United States of America and be grateful that those who gave you that freedom can now get Health Care from the country they served.

It's health care insurance that is the issue here and what you're speaking to that becomes "free" Cigar, you of course probably clueless that nothing is free, someone else(taxpayer) is paying. But let's not get confused. Health Care was afforded in emergency rooms to those who couldn't afford health insurance. Don't confuse the words here, we're not speaking about health care, that's a democrat tactic that only sheep believe.

But, I just consider your contribution here odd. Your point here seems to proclain 'screw em all, Repubs and Dems" or something close. Many didn't vote for Obamacare, Cigar, thus would want an exemption, they don't consider these 'exchanges' a viable health insurance option that's why they didn't vote for this monstrosity. The Republicans especially voiced out they thought this a bad plan, it's the Dems who considered this a "big f'n deal" it was your party in the dead of night on Christmas Eve who forced this vote.....isn't it logical then that they are clearly the hypocritical ones here. Anyone voting for this law...and then wanting an exemption now that they've read the bill.....are merely reaping what they've sown. Should anyone have read the bill and voted against it, it makes logical sense to attempt an exemption. They considered it a poor plan then, they consider it a poor plan now.

Your defense here is to combine all lawmakers into one group and 'f em all.' It's YOUR hero and Party that brought us this.....sleep in the beds you make.

Just like someone else paves the roads ... fights the Wars ... builds the infrastructure ... hada hada hada ...

It's funny to see someone condemn someone for lumping everyone ... then doing it himself ... all in one sentence.

Congratulations ... you're confirmed.

The reason why those government workers don't want to get health coverage at the exchange is because their share of the premium is much higher then going through their direct employer plus their out of pocket expenses will be much higher.

You hit the problem right on the head greeny. A US Sen or Congressperson only has to make their little constituency happy, they dont have to concern themselves with whats good for the country only what makes their little constituency happy and gets them re elected. Thats why we have the billions in pork they BIPARISANLY hand out to each other quietly to buy their constituencies.

You don't think the ruling elite will ever be on the same insurance or in the same doctor's offices as the useful idiots that elect them, do you?

Shoot the lawyers while we are at it.

Shakespeare. But, as they say, context is everything:

As the famous remark by the plotter of treachery in Shakespeare's King Henry VI shows - "The first thing we must do is kill all the lawyers," - the surest way to chaos and tyranny even then was to remove the guardians of independent thinking.
