Wife accidentally kills husband during gun lesson
A fun night for a Pennsylvania couple turned deadly after police say the woman accidentally shot and killed her husband.
On Friday, around 9 p.m., police say Michael Wanko, 43, and Michele Wanko, 42, were “casually drinking” vodka and lemonade together inside their home on West Roland Road in Parkside, Penn. Around 3:30 a.m., police say the couple went into their basement so that Michael could show his wife how to use a semiautomatic pistol. The couple went into a work room where several weapons were kept inside a safe.
“He took several of the weapons out, handguns and was demonstrating to her how the weapon worked as far as taking the magazine out, making sure it was safe, and how to pull the slide back,” said Parkside Police Chief John Egan.
As Michael reached into a safe to grab a gun, police say Michele picked up another gun and pulled the slide back, just as her husband had instructed her. “When she let go of the slide, the weapon went off,” said Chief Egan.

I'd like to see her defense attorney get that gun to slamfire again.
"I didn't pull the trigger officer, really I didn't".
What crap, drag her in front of a grand jury.

look at the lady in cigar picture,,,, she has her finger on the trigger, if there is pressure on the trigger when she lets the slide Go Boom! each and every time!
This is a terrible accident maybe?? or hopefully! but this is why the trainer shoudl know what they are doing! There are no accidental shootings only negligent
And the first rule is??????
Never let the barrel of the gun cover anything that you are not willing to destroy! had this been followed even with a negligent fire, everyone would be alive today!

Drinking and gun handling is a gross violation of gun safety.
This is a sly woman who offed her spouse and may get away with it.
Guns don't fire on their own.

I wold agree with above statement! There has never been a gun that walked down the street and shot someone! all by itself!
Drinking and gunfire never mix, I thought that this was understood, but thanks for briging it up

She shot her husband under guise of an accident.
99% of all detectives would procede from that angle, and 99% of them would be right.

OK, let's cut the personal attacks and discuss the topic.

When her attorneys find an expert witness who can give a technical explanation of why the gun malfunctioned in this way and duplicate the event for demonstration, then I'll be willing to believe she didn't pull the trigger (accidentally or otherwise). And then we can compare the number of people killed by malfunctioning guns with the number killed by malfunctioning chainsaws, farm equipment, welders, deep fat fryers, motor vehicles, weed-whackers, or any other powerful tool.

My ex-father in law was on a jury, a black guy was claiming a cheap derringer went off and killed his wife.
The prosecutor was waving that gun around, swearing up and down it could not go off by accident, but only intentionally.
He paused for breath in front of a silent jury, and the hammer dropped.
The whole courtroom flinched, but, the guy was acquited.
Not enough info on type of gun, etc, but, enough for a thread.
Guns, drink and wives don't mix, guys.
Ask any homicide detective.
