Here are the highlights from the recent reveal of Microsoft's next game system:

Thank you continued Westernization of the gaming market! Just what no one expected: more sports games, shooters, and crap that has nothing to do with gaming. But it's high tech (and likely high priced accordingly) and that's what matters.

Boy that capitalism sure is a bitch, You socialists are not able to control everything that you think people should have and spend there money on!

As for me those games make me motion sick but for those that like them, who am I to tell them NO!

This topic has nothing to do with freedom of speech, socialism vs. capitalism, or anything of that nature, and everything to do with me whining about the directionality of a hobby I love. It's just casual conversation, sarcasm, and joking around. Are you incapable of lightening up or do you just have be assholes about everything simply because you know I'm personally a socialist?

Not everything has to be made into a federal case.

I always stuck with PC games- never got a dedicated gaming platform.

Well I am not a gamer, so I did not pick up on your love a gaming, I took it as an assult on a company seeling something new and expensive.

I do apoligize, I was wrong, I did not get your meaning, others that play the game most likely know exactly what you meant, I did not and I was wrong!

So you need to educate me? what is the bad thing about this gaming system? Bit of an idiot on the subject!

Sorry for the miss understanding of what you were talking about!

M$ probably did more that most to bring computing to the masses.

I work in a M$ shop in IT. I'm always cussing them out. Mostly because they make so many decisions for you.

Peter:

Really? I've always been a console gamer myself. PC gaming struck me as something for those with the know-how and resources to regularly upgrade their computers and so forth, which I have no motivation to do. I've always preferred the simplicity of the console plug-in-and-play methodology. Nintendo systems have mostly been my favorites, but not exclusively. As a fan of fantasy adventure titles and traditional fantasy RPGs, I definitely have preferred Japanese systems and titles mostly.

I agree. That is why I like PC gaming. I never liked the idea of having a separate gaming system (that you really can't do anything else with, although I guess some are also DVD players).

I like the fantasy RPGs but haven't played any in a long time. I like the old Mech Warriors series, too bad it ended. Rome Total War and its add-ons are cool. And off course Civilization.

Some complain about the new fees they'll be charging. I mostly complain about the range of titles that sell well on American systems and the growing influence of Microsoft upon the whole market. They seem to be leading the whole industry away from what I consider games of depth and into more shallow, mindless, "action"-oriented territory that's just not a match for my interests. If not for Kinect, I'd write them a message asking them why they didn't just name their system "No Girls Allowed".

I have heard that. I don't play any games that can't run well on my PC.

I'm more of a Final Fantasy / Chrono Trigger / Lunar / Zelda / Okami / Chibi Robo! / Beyond Good and Evil / Tales of Symphonia / Baten Kaitos type of gamer myself. I also enjoy lots of puzzle games: the Professor Layton titles, Chu Chu Rocket!, and so on. And of course I piddle around with other genres as well (platformers, dance games, and mini-game collections especially), but just not as much.

Price will make a big difference to me in terms of whether I get the PS4 this year or in more like two or three years. I already have the Wii U and have no intention of spending $500+ on another system.

A bit off topic, in Korea I used to go into the arcades to play. There was a boxing arcade machine. First time I stayed on it for a half hour and beat all scores by a lot. I maxed it out and it wouldn't let me box any more. The manager was worried that I would break it.

The last TV that I bought is an interent TV, so I can do a lot with it. Lots of apps (Pandora ) and Netflix. Plus I can plug my netbook into it.

Second, polly you have to understand that to the far right everything is political. If they stub their toe its a liberal plot, if they get gas Its a liberal plot. Everything is political and nothing is their fault and everything thats wrong with their life is liberalisms fault. Have fun with it, I do :)

I have never been much of a console gamer myself, I strongly prefer the online Free to Play crap and stay away from anything that will cost me much money. That said, this looks like just another Xbox. And what the hell? They think adding a dog is gonna make the CoD franchise all that much greater?

I think that I would like games that challenged the mind, and made you think. But I will have to take your workd that Kinect is a good game.

Life for me has enough violence in it! So if I was to play a game I would want it to be an escape.
