“Richard Nixon was a combat veteran, a staunch and brave anti-Communist, a man who took on the liberal establishment and at times his own party's as well, a leader who often thought for himself and had the courage of his convictions, a president who assembled a first-rate Cabinet and one who—while flawed both in character and in policy judgment—usually tried to confront the real problems and deal with challenges of his times. Richard Nixon led neither the country nor his own administration from behind.”

GOP Memo Admits Plan Could 'Keep Black Vote Down'
October 25, 1986 (http://thepoliticalforums.com/1986/oct/25)|From the Washington Post

NEWARK, N.J. — A Republican National Committee official calculated that a so-called ballot security program in Louisiana "could keep the black vote down considerably," according to documents released in federal court Friday.
The documents and court hearing were the latest developments in a controversy over the GOP's ballot program that Democrats maintain is aimed at reducing minority turnout. The Republicans say the program's sole purpose is to purge ineligible voters from voting roles.

In an Aug. 13 memo the court made public Friday, Kris Wolfe, the Republican National Committee Midwest political director, wrote Lanny Griffith, the committee's Southern political director, and said of the Louisiana campaigning:
"I know this race is really important to you. I would guess that this program will eliminate at least 60-80,000 folks from the rolls. . . . If it's a close race . . . which I'm assuming it is, this could keep the black vote down considerably."
Unseals Document
She said in the memorandum that the program had been approved by Gregory Graves, deputy political director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
The document, called Exhibit 13, was unsealed by U.S. District Judge Dickinson R. Debevoise when lawyers for the Democratic National Committee said it was needed to question Wolfe.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_Central_Voter_File#James_Lee.27s_testimony

James Lee's testimony [edit (http://thepoliticalforums.com/w/index.php?title=Florida_Central_Voter_File&action=edit&section=3)]On 17 April 2001, James Lee testified, before the McKinney panel, that the state had given DBT the directive to add to the purge list people who matched at least 90% of a last name. DBT objected, knowing that this would produce a huge number of false positives (non-felons).[7] (http://thepoliticalforums.com/#cite_note-7)
Lee went on saying that the state then ordered DBT to shift to an even lower threshold of 80% match, allowing also names to be reversed (thus a person named Thomas Clarence could be taken to be the same as Clarence Thomas). Besides this, middle initials were skipped, Jr. and Sr. suffixes dropped, and some nicknames (http://thepoliticalforums.com/wiki/Nickname) and aliases (http://thepoliticalforums.com/wiki/Pseudonym) were added to puff up the list.
"DBT told state officials", testified Lee, "that the rules for creating the [purge] list would mean a significant number of people who were not deceased, not registered in more than one county, or not a felon, would be included on the list. DBT made suggestions to reduce the numbers of eligible voters included on the list". According to Lee, to this suggestion the state told the company, "Forget about it".
"The people who worked on this (for DBT) are very adamant... they told them what would happen", said Lee. "The state expected the county supervisors to be the failsafe." Lee said his company will never again get involved in cleansing voting rolls. "We are not confident any of the methods used today can guarantee legal voters will not be wrongfully denied the right to vote", Lee told a group of Atlanta-area black lawmakers in March 2001

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002_New_Hampshire_Senate_election_phone_jamming_s candal

The 2002 New Hampshire Senate election phone jamming scandal involves the use of a telemarketing (http://thepoliticalforums.com/wiki/Telemarketing) firm hired by that state's Republican Party (http://thepoliticalforums.com/wiki/Republican_Party_(United_States)) (NHGOP) for election tampering. The tampering involved using a call center to jam the phone lines of a Get Out the Vote (GOTV) operation. In the end, 900 calls were made for 45 minutes of disruption to the Democratic-leaning call centers.
During that state's 2002 election for the U.S. Senate (http://thepoliticalforums.com/wiki/U.S._Senate) seat being vacated by Robert C. Smith (http://thepoliticalforums.com/wiki/Robert_C._Smith), the NHGOP hired GOP Marketplace (http://thepoliticalforums.com/w/index.php?title=GOP_Marketplace&action=edit&redlink=1), based in Northern Virginia (http://thepoliticalforums.com/wiki/Northern_Virginia), to jam another phone bank being used by the state Democratic Party (http://thepoliticalforums.com/wiki/Democratic_Party_(United_States)) and the firefighters (http://thepoliticalforums.com/wiki/Firefighter)' union (http://thepoliticalforums.com/wiki/Labor_union) for efforts to turn out voters on behalf of then-governor Jeanne Shaheen (http://thepoliticalforums.com/wiki/Jeanne_Shaheen) on Election Day (http://thepoliticalforums.com/wiki/Election_Day_(politics)). John E. Sununu (http://thepoliticalforums.com/wiki/John_E._Sununu), the Republican candidate, won a narrow victory. In addition to criminal prosecutions, disclosures in the case have come from a civil suit filed by the state's Democratic Party against the state's Republican Party (now settled).
Four men have been convicted of, or pled guilty to, federal crimes and sentenced to prison for their involvement as of 2008[update] (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2002_New_Hampshire_Senate_election _phone_jamming_scandal&action=edit). One conviction has been reversed by an appeals court, a decision prosecutors are appealing. James Tobin (http://thepoliticalforums.com/wiki/James_Tobin_(political_operative)), freed on appeal, was later indicted on charges of lying to the FBI (http://thepoliticalforums.com/wiki/FBI) during the original investigation.

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court has refused to lift a 30-year consent decree that bars the Republican National Committee from targeting racial and ethnic minorities in its efforts to end fraudulent voting.
The justices without comment turned down an appeal from RNC lawyers who said the decree has become “antiquated” and is “increasingly used as political weapon” by Democrats during national campaigns.

Truthdoesntmatter goes for volume. Nonsense in ten posts trump nonsense in one. There is no comparison between President Nixon and the current ruler. And, I have never seen the Democrats acting as viciously as they have been. Their desire to destroy the country so they can rebuild it as a socialist paradise knows no bounds. I guess we'll have to see if dead people, foreign nationals, voters bought and paid for, and those who vote repeatedly out of ideology will triumph in the next election, won't we?

An old Nixon-era hand weighs in.

http://triblive.com/news/editorspicks/4080457-74/obama-transparency-government#axzz2Ualq4vOH

quote:

“James C. Goodale was the 37-year-old chief counsel for The New York Times in 1971 when it published a leaked version of a secret government study of U.S. policies in Vietnam that came to be called the Pentagon Papers.
Now 79, he sees similarities in the way the Nixon and Obama administrations have battled with the media.”

“We've come full circle, with respect to national security and the First Amendment,” he said. “Nixon was bad on that; Obama is catching up.”

“They treat the public like spies, and journalists as conspiracists,”

“…reports that the Justice Department secretly obtained telephone records of reporters and editors at The Associated Press in April and May 2012 infuriated news groups and some members of Congress.”

“He's crossed the line,” he said of Obama. “How we uncross that line is not clear to me.”

Taxcutter asks:
Is this history repeating itself or just rhyming?

In one way, Hussein Obama far exceeds Nixon.

Eighth Democrat Named in New York Vote Fraud Probe-By Warner Todd Huston
Many anti-voter reform advocates claim that there is no such thing as voter fraud in the United States. That might be news in Rensselaer County, New York where an eighth local Democrat has been brought up on charges in connection with a 2009 attempt by Democrats to forge absentee ballots for the Working Families Party.
On January 11, Troy Democrat City Councilman Gary Galuski, 51, was indicted on four counts of first-degree falsifying business records, pleaded not guilty and was released on his own recognizance.
Times Union reporter Kenneth Crowe II, reports that Special Prosecutor Trey Smith said, “the charges against Galuski arise from leaving parts of the absentee ballot application form blank. The applications were for four voters, one of whom have since died.”

Ballot-fraud convictions shed light on Obama’s ’08 campaign

Two former Indiana Democratic Party officials have been convicted (http://www.abc57.com/news/local/VERDICT-204785281.html) on multiple counts of election fraud.
Two St. Joseph County Democratic operatives have been found guilty of conspiring to forge signatures in order to get both Obama and then-presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton on the ballot in Indiana. Fox News reports (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/04/26/officials-found-guilty-in-obama-clinton-ballot-petition-fraud/):

Former longtime St. Joseph County Democratic Party Chairman Butch Morgan Jr. was found guilty of felony conspiracy counts to commit petition fraud and forgery, and former county Board of Elections worker Dustin Blythe was found guilty of felony forgery counts and falsely making a petition, after being accused of faking petitions that enabled Obama, then an Illinois senator, to get on the presidential primary ballot for his first run for the White House.
Morgan was accused of being the mastermind behind the plot.
According to testimony from two former Board of Election officials who pled guilty, Morgan ordered Democratic officials and workers to fake the names and signatures that Obama and Clinton needed to qualify for the presidential race. Blythe, then a Board of Elections employee and Democratic Party volunteer, was accused of forging multiple pages of the Obama petitions.

You're saying Democrats are successful at cheating and Republicans just try? Let's see, who is it that will do anything to avoid having the crooks at the polls identified? Oh, right, Democrats.

President Nixon was not a favorite of mine because he was a liberal but he was certainly more honest than the current regime. No one died from Watergate. How about Fast and Furious and Benghazi? As for breaking the law, how about setting up an internet scam to collect political donations from foreign nationals and conceal both their identity and the country of origin for the donation.

Yep, with Tricky Dick we only had a second rate burglary. With Barry (current list, no doubt will get longer):

Fast & Furious
Benghazi
IRS
DO(in)J snooping on reporters
EPA playing games with right to know
NSA snooping on everyone
State Department hiring whores (a cruder form of government worker)
(Coming soon, next scandal)

These guys are starting to be a lot more entertaining than Tricky Dick.
