MSNBC has apologized (http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/SIG=147jpk4ip/EXP=1325184555/**http%3A//www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/chris-matthews-apologizes-for-appalling-lack-of-judgment-in-msnbc-story_b102583) to Mitt Romney's presidential campaign for airing a segment that connected Romney's use of the expression "Keep America American" to the Klu Klux Klan.
"During the 11AM hour on MSNBC, we reported on a blog item (http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/SIG=131dgn12l/EXP=1325184555/**http%3A//www.americablog.com/2011/12/romney-adopts-kkk-slogan-keep-america.html) that compared a phrase used by the Romney campaign to one used by the KKK in the 1920s," Chris Matthews said on Wednesday. "It was irresponsible and incendiary of us to do this and showed an appalling lack of judgment. We apologize, we really do, to the Romney campaign."
The aforementioned segment was anchored by Thomas Roberts.
"So you may not hear Mitt Romney say 'Keep America American' anymore,' " Roberts said in his report. "That's because it was a rallying cry for the KKK group, and intimidation against blacks, gays and Jews. The Progressive American blog was the first to catch on to that."

What a bunch of dolts. These kinds of stories underscore the problem with the 24/7 news media cycle. There's just not enough to talk about without making up stupid stories like these. I bet that expression has been used by dozens of groups, it's not exactly novel nor creative.

No harm done though. It's not like anyone watches MSNBC or reads their blogs.

Oh wow, I never even thought about there being an MSNBC blog. That must be horrible.

I can only imagine the most partisan of liberals perusing an MSNBC blog.

Oh they have enough to talk about.....but then that would leave the viewers informed. Not confused!
