Actor and musician Mos Def (also known as Yasiin Bey) volunteered to undergo the same force-feeding procedure endured by Guantanamo Bay inmates on hunger strike. The result is this deeply disturbing video. Though done with his consent, Bey looks terrified as he is shackled and strapped into a grim-looking chair, screaming as a lubricated feeding tube is forced up his nose and down into his stomach. He is held down by four men, and undergoes one round of feeding, before literally begging them to stop. As the demonstration ends, Def weeps openly from the experience. The film was made by human rights organization Reprieve, which wants the U.S. to stop the practice.

Besides ... I like food too much to starve myself.

or they could just release the ones who have been cleared for release given they've never been charged with anything or tried.

Or jus shoot them now rather than later when they get back on the battlefield as most of the ones released have.

why would you shoot someone who was found not to be a terrorist and hasn't done anything wrong?

they weren't "found on the battlefield". lol...

Fine, don't shoot them. Release them. From 30,000 feet. I have no sympathy for muslim terrorists or their supporters and enablers.

i don't care about making enemies when necessary. but keeping people incarcerated for no reason other than the rightwingers decided to keep people incarcerated who haven't done anything wrong??? that's just messed up.

Then go to Gitmo and have them released into your custody if you're so concerned. Or have you forgotten the fact that no country wants to take them in?

who says they're terrorists? they've been found harmless... and haven't done anything, been charged with anything or tried.

but keep using the word terrorist over and over... maybe it will make it true!

No ... Real Lawyers and our own Justice Department found them to be innocent, they kinda have resources you're not privy to.

When did you pass the BAR

They already do, DS. Except that they execute whatever prisoners they do take. Not hold them in clean, decent cells, provide them with special meals, TV, soccer and give them their own bibles.

Really, jillian? Lawyers have to go pass a BAR exam to practice law? Damn!
By the way, jillian, you might want to find someone that will make you a permanent loan of a sense of humor since yours is obviously atrophied from years of liberalism.
One other thing, jillian, I don't get drunk on Saturday night or any other night. I don't drink or do drugs.

They are human beings not animals. They may not have the same compassion towards us that we want them to have and they may have completely different points of view than us that we find disturbing but when we start referring to them as animals in my opinion is helps justify our own animalistic acts by dehumanizing them. You call them animals but yet detaining people for the rest of their life without charge and force feeding them to maintain their status as our prisoners is not something to admire either.

If you ever come to town I'm sure there's one of his Bars nearby.

Its also a matter of perspective. If we view them as barbarians and they view as the same way then perhaps we are both right and both wrong. How can we begin to judge them if we discount their justifications for attacking us? You don't have to agree with them or accept them in order to try to understand their point of view. Granted some of them are crazy and heartless and do not care at all, I get that, but in many ways our culture has the same view towards them.

Dehumanizing? How? They have decent food, decent accommodations, recreation, etc. They just can't be released. I'm with GRC. As long as we provide the food, it's up to them if they eat or not. Don't force feed them. Let them starve if they want to, it won't be because we did not provide food and water.
