WASHINGTON/ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - A U.S. military investigation has found American and Afghan commandos wrongly concluded there were no Pakistani forces in a border area where an air strike killed 24 Pakistani troops last month, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.
In a statement issued later on Thursday, the Pentagon said "inadequate coordination by U.S. and Pakistani military officers" and "our reliance on incorrect mapping information ... contributed to this trajic result.

The Pentagon statement expressed "deepest regret" for the loss of life and the lack of coordination that contributed to it. However, it also said U.S. forces cannot operate effectively in Pakistani border areas "without addressing the fundamental trust still lacking between us."
"The overarching issue that surrounds this incident is a lack of trust" between the United States and Pakistan that led to the incident, the Journal quoted a military official as saying.

The air strike incensed the Pakistanis, who demanded that the United States leave the Shamsi Air Base within 15 days and blocked ground supply routes through Pakistan to U.S. forces in Afghanistan. They also want a formal U.S. apology.

However U.S. military officials said Pakistani forces should have realized they were not firing on insurgents because of the fighter jets and gunships, the newspaper reported.
"It's hard to mistake these units for insurgents," a U.S. official told the Journal. "One of the gaps in this investigation is we don't know why they came under fire by the Pakistani military.".....snip~

Now it is not that difficult to tell what is up in the Sky. Which the Taliban have nothing in the sky. Why is Obama trying to come up with this 50/50 take on the responsibility shit. Why is our Military acknowledging any of it when they know that the bottom line is that The Pakis Fired on our People for No Apparent Reason. That the Pakis Fired First upon these troops from their side of the Border.

IMO the Pakis instigated and escalated all these tensions between us. It is like they want to really engage us in a confrontation. We should come right out and ask. Do you want to go to War against us. Do you really want to push anything with us. If they even hesitate. Then we pack up our Embassy Immediately get whatever people out of their country as fast as we can. Immediately we stop all Aid to their Country. Including food and humanitarian aid.

We then deploy two fleets to just sit outside their territorial waters. Send some Military Advisors into India. We then Walk in the UN and tell them putzs. We will not tolerate any firing upon Americans by this Country. That if they get into any of our buisness. We will put a big gigantic Whole in the ground, Right where they're country is located. These meatheads are the one's pushing the Envelope. Obama best not Apologize to them at all. Plus he should have Clinton lay down some heavy words about firing on US Troops. That we will not tolerate any return threats. Not One!

Another thing stop sending the S.O.D. round doing the S.O.S.'s job!!!!!

I think you're right, there are definitely forces and probably the majority of the Pakistani government that wants us gone. It doesn't surprise me in the least that they would purposefully exacerbate relations and create some miscommunication to lead to a conflict like this. They would be more than willing to sacrifice a few of their troops if it could raise anger at the US and get our forces out of the region. Don't forget how their own ISI was connected to the attacks in Mumbai as well. They are terrorists, plain and simple.

I don't know if you check any Foreign New Sources like the Asian Times, Al-jazerra, these guys are outright talking some vocal and public BS about us. It is clear we cannot trust their Military nor that Intelligence group. I think this goes beyond us just being in the region. This is something completely different. Thats my thinking.

Especially knowing the timetable for the drawdown out of Afghanistan. Easy to wait it out. Plus I am sure they know we were in alleged Secret Talks with the Taliban in Afghanistan. Paki Taliban knows for sure!

ISLAMABAD (AP) — The Pakistani army on Friday rejected a U.S. investigation that concluded mistakes on both sides led to American airstrikes last month that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers and severely damaged the already strained relationship between the two countries.

The army "does not agree with the findings of the US/NATO inquiry as being reported in the media," the force said in a short statement sent to reporters shortly after midnight Friday. "The inquiry report is short on facts."
The army will provide a detailed response after officials receive the report, it said. Pakistan refused to cooperate in the investigation.

In Kabul, Defense Ministry spokesman Mohammad Zahir Azimi said the Afghan government would not comment on the U.S. report.....snip~

Of Course the Pakis reject a Report which they took no part in the investigation. Outright refusing to. Once again the Pakis deny they fired on Coalition Troops. What Bothers me the most is that Afghanis Security Forces were with us on this Nite-raid. They fired upon the Pakis too. Yet nothing is said about this. But to top it off the Afghanis refuse to issue any statement? WTF is up with that?

Where is Team Obama? Why isn't our S.O.S. all out on front-street with this? Does anybody think that due to Christmas coming up that this will stop any of these hostilities over this weekend. What every year doesnt some sect of Muslims attack Christians on Christmas Day? Why is Obama acting like this does not affect us with them closing off the border.

This is a direct interference with our operations. We also have absolute failure in cooperation of the Pakis Government. Pakis Officials that have no problem speaking out against us and refusing to take any responsibility for their treacherous acts and motivations which the pakis have decided to re-nig on their agreements. Words of Stern warnings need to be given to these dipshits so that they may understand that their words have meaning. Which we will be gladl to start choking them right back down their friggin throats.

What does Obama have to wait until they almost utter the words that lead to confrontation. Because if we back down then they will see this as weakness.

Time for All Americans to write theirs Pols and demand that all Aid and assistance to Pakistan stop forthwith and immediately. American citizens that have twitter and facebook should be putting all kinds of materil out there for the Pakis to read. let them see that the American Citzenry will not take lightly any of their threats and that we want their azz for out right Lieing to us. Their supposed ally.
