The U.S. State Department has issued a new worldwide alert to citizens warning of potential terrorist attacks, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa.

The department, which said yesterday that embassies in a number of countries would be closed Sunday, said the attacks are seen as possibly occurring in or emanating from the Arabian Peninsula.

“Current information suggests that al-Qaeda and affiliated organizations continue to plan terrorist attacks both in the region and beyond,” the alert said.

Since you can't inform yourself, why would you be so foolish as to think you can inform anyone else?

Isn't this what the Benghazi scandal is all about, Obama trying to give the impression terrorism had been contained when it hasn't.

How would the United States of America contain terrorism in countries outside it's borders?

If someone was stupid enough to believe that, then how could they explain why out troupes are not home.

Your serve ...

And you think the U.S. is containing terrorism outside our borders? Hell, genius, look at Boston. They aren't even containing it inside our borders.

Ah, whatever. It's not like people actually read or care about travel advisories. Daily news stories prove as much.

But I thought Al Qaeda was no longer a threat.
Obama said, “Thanks to sacrifice and service of our brave men and women in uniform, the war in Iraq is over, the war in Afghanistan is winding down, al Qaeda has been decimated, Osama bin Laden is dead.”

They're a threat when it's Bush's fault, not a threat when Obama is responsible.

You are obviously wrong, again, Cigar. We were all assured that when Barack Obama was elected the first time that the whole world would rejoice, form lasting friendships with the U.S., and we'd all sing kumbaya together. Now, here you are, trying to undermine the President. For shame.

Technically he is correct. al Qaeda prime is effectively combat ineffective. The problem is the news doesn't make any distinction between al Qaeda prime and all of the franchise operations out there. And as a past thread of mine explained, the franchise operations have grown, but they have only limited ability to operate outside of their own region.
