According to census data, half of the population of the U.S. lives in 146 of the 3000+ counties. I thought that was an interesting factoid. The link takes you to a map.

The electoral collage is based on populations?

But I agree it is time to do away with it, each state has enough populations to swing an election!

That is amazing when you think about it!

Especially when you have a country boy like me that likes room!

It may also explain a lot of the division. What someone needs that is shoulder to shoulder with his neighbor? is much different than someone like me that can't see my neighbors

You put that better than I did, but that is what I was trying to say!

So, there really is a LibWorld. And, I understand Jillians point of half the people wanting to be able to vote to have the other half feed them and support them.

Quite a few years ago a police major from Baltimore County was discussing a new police organization dealing with planning. He said I could meet with the guys in Salt Lake City and Albuquerque once a month. I laughed and said, "I can't meet with them once a month. Salt Lake is the closest and it's 450 miles away."

"What's a big city between you and Salt Lake City?" I laughed and said, "Rock Springs, Wyoming." He looked stunned. He couldn't believe empty space existed.
