Didn't know where to put this so I hope this is a good place. Just found out I have stretched ligaments and a tear in my meniscus. Now I wait for workmans comp to find an orthopedic surgeon. Could involve surgery not sure yet.

This happened getting out of my big truck. I twisted my knee turning on the top step to use the grab handles to climb down. According to web MD this is a common knee injury.

No idea how long I will be off work yet.

All prayers from my Christians brothers and sisters here is greatly appreciated.

No riding the bike and my wife has to put with me now 24 hours aday

On the bright side tomorrow we take our son out for his birthday. He is our special needs son and we are going to a good Greek restaurant where he will get a whiskey steak.

I thank you in advance for your compassion.

I hope you feel better. I messed up my ankle while jogging earlier this year and it really sucked not having the mobility that I took for granted every day. Hopefully you don't need surgery.

Good luck and remember doctors give advice. They don't make decisions about you and your health. I broke my tibia in five places at my knee. A new knee was recommended. I said I'd wait. It's 35 years and I'm still waiting. I walk around town every day. When I was ten, the doctor told my mother I had six weeks to live. My father loaded us in the company car, which his boss graciously let him use, and we went to the Mayo Clinic. They said they didn't know how long I'd last but there was nothing they could do. Now, I'm 72 and I think it's safe to say the doctor was wrong.

Oh, with my knee, when I lost 50 pounds my knee got a lot better.

So, listen, evaluation, and make your decision. All surgeries are perfectly safe...for the doctor.

Thanx. I am 59 but I need my knee healed to get back in my big truck and on the Harley. I hurt my back in 2006 and waited till 2009 to get the surgery I hoped it would get better that did not happen. I had a good surgery so now my back is better but I doubt I will ever be pain free. They fused my bottom 3 vertebrae.

Socialist? Workmans comp is insurance that is expensive to every company

Oh, Marie likes to pretend everything is socialist. Workman's comp is an insurance program but since it's run by the government it's rife with fraud.

Sorry to hear that ptif, just make sure you do all of the physio and keep up the exercise, it's really the only thing apart from good diet that really works.

Ouch, ptif! You're used to being active; try not to let boredom set in. Plan movie nights with your wife and make popcorn, discover the wonderful world of computer gaming; invest in an electronic reader and download a lot of classic books. Hope the medics work with you to help you make the decision of what's best for you...........

Hugs,
Ocean

Thanx

My knees, feet and lower back are pretty much screwed from airborne infantry. Now I have to limit my running to no more than 2x a week. It sucks considering I used to run 4 to 8 miles 5 times a week.

It is still paid for by the company not the government

But I wish you the very best!

That doesn't make it less of a social program.

Do your research if they recommend any kind of "replacement." After hearing several horror stories I am not convinced that a friend of mine had ALS but succumbed to toxins from shoddy products.

It is not government run. So then I guess all insurance is a socialist program?

Mine is a slight tear in the miniscus which as far as I can tell is very minor surgery
