President Barack Obama called on Congress to lower corporate tax rates in his State (http://thepoliticalforums.com/#) of the Union address Tuesday night, suggesting the measures could be paid for by closing certain loopholes but offering few concrete details. If and when lawmakers move forward on corporate tax relief (http://thepoliticalforums.com/#), the key battle lines are likely to be drawn over those fuzzy pay-fors.

"I'm asking Democrats and Republicans to simplify the system. Get rid of the loopholes," Obama said in his address. "A parade of lobbyists has rigged the tax code to benefit particular companies and industries."

Officially, the top corporate tax rate in the United States is 35 percent, one of the highest in the world. But the federal tax (http://thepoliticalforums.com/#) code is filled with so many loopholes and credits that few companies actually pay that rate. General Electric, for example, only paid an average of 3.6 percent over the last 3 years (http://wonkroom.thinkprogress.org/2011/01/21/ge-corporate-tax/), according to the most recent annual company report.....snip~

Obama Jobs Council Calls for Lower Corporate Taxes, Increased Domestic Energy.....

President Obama’s jobs council has issued a new set of recommendations calling for more corporate-friendly policies. On Tuesday, the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness issued a report backing a reduction of the corporate tax rate, an expansion of domestic energy production and doing away with a number of regulations.

"I’ve personally emphasized to the White House team and to the cabinet (http://thepoliticalforums.com/#) the importance of aggressively implementing the recommendations of this job council.....snip~

Now he wants to lower the Coporate Taxes because his team recommends it. First he said he was for this in his State of the Union in 2010. Then he was against. Now he is back to wanting it.

Then he says he is harping on the Corporations. Yet he is backed by Corporations. No wonder all his team keeps quiting. Plus there are a hosts of Demos that will not be returning to Office.

How did I even miss the State of the Union Address? That must have been the night I was working late.

A simplification of the tax code and a closing of loop holes for both corporations and people (am I being redundant?) would be a great thing, but this is Washington DC we're talking about. It is highly unlikely to happen.

I dont like your attitude. Always so hostile.

Obama kept most of his promises, some things are hard to get done because of the Republicans blocking him and yes he didnt do everything I wanted

I wouldnt say he lied about anything. Those are strong charges

Any individual who has paid attention recognizes that the Republicans have worked tireless against Obama's plans. To suggest otherwise is simply disingenuous!
