Funny, isn't it? The Clown Republicans shut down the government and people are flocking to the exchanges for health care.

What ever the clowns hoped to accomplish accomplished nothing.

The U.S. administration on Tuesday encouraged potential enrollees in Obamacare health coverage to seek in-person assistance from a call center and other sources after technical glitches emerged at the debut of the law's new online healthcare marketplaces.

A federally run marketplace for consumers in 36 states began posting error messages soon after the system opened for enrollment at 7 a.m., citing online traffic as a reason for the difficulties. An administration official said experts were aware of the issue and were working to address it.

...snip...

Consumers attempting to log on to the new exchanges were met with the message: "We have a lot of visitors on our site right now and we’re working to make your experience here better. Please wait here until we send you to the log-in page. Thank you for your patience!"

The delay was as long as four minutes at 7:10 a.m. Those seeking customer service encountered additional delays.

I went to the website to check out the calculator to see what some costs would be. I input information for some family members.
My cousin, hi s wife and daughter make about 14000k per year, the site told e there premiums would be 10700 per year for the Silver plan, 7895 for the Bronze plan and they did not qualify for any subsidy.
I input the numbers for another family member making 65k. Their premiums were the same except that they qualified for a 7k subsidy!!
I input yet another's info at 24k and they qualified for $0.

Something is truly screwed when a family making 14k has to pay 10k for insurance.

it may be that it will prove that a single payor system would be more efficient.

and?

first we have to address the cost of health CARE (as opposed to insurance). seems that should be the next thing we address as a society. there is no reason the US system is as unwieldy and overpriced as it is.

The VA system is essentially a single payer system. After my last deployment I signed up for VA health care services (2008). Never heard back. I re-applied this past fall. Still waiting.....

They gave me a 60% disability rating, but no ability to access VA health care.

the ACA was a compromise. you can say it wasn't but it was.

and expanding medicaid would still screw all of the middle class//working class people who aren't eligible.... still wouldn't keep insurance companies from dropping people with pre-existing conditions; still wouldn't have kept them from maxing out coverage...

it would only have addressed the smallest part of the issues we face.

I would handle pre-existing conditions either by putting those people on Medicaid or having states create special risk pools for them. Using Medicaid would likely be cheaper.

If you didn't have homeowners insurance, and your house caught fire, how much would it cost for you to buy homeowners insurance?

Detroit is so broke you can buy a house in Salem's lot from the city for $500. It's a shitty house, but it's a house. You can then pay $2000 a year in taxes on it (true story). You can go to local food banks run by the Diocese and get most of your meals if you don't mind charity. They work with local markets so you can pretty much go and load up. You can buy a car for a couple hundred bucks if you don't care if it's used.

Yes, you can do it, actually. Would you want to? Probably not.

Savings, and GI Bill predominantly.

But yes. Food stamps are involved much to my shame. Being a student, I see no profit in going into debt via student loans to eat. However the difference between us and the average parasite is that we are more economical - we don't max the EBT on junk. We have never used a full allotment in a single month. I don't know how many thousands of dollars we have on credit on that thing.

Regardless, we have no plan to use it all because don't need it all.

But knowing that I will be raped ferociously in the future with retarded taxation is penance enough for now. But housing assistance? Nope. I pay rent in advance out of my redistributed tax return.

So at this point I would like to thank all those who have paid into this unjust system which allows me to pay rent in advance.

Not really, mostly just ego bruising. Knowing that I am beholden to the federal government for GI Bill benefits is a horrid thing to have to own up to. But I would prefer they shut down and never re-open. Because then certain things would change. And a man could actually make his way in this world off of his own steam, without the vampires draining it from him so he has to exist off of the scraps they opt to give him.

Rich man's mind, stuck in a poor man's situation. But I am trying to climb my way out of this gutter I sprang from.

It was the best investment I ever made. Basically I paid $1200 over a year for a 4 year tour and got $30K for college. And my paycheck didn't get over $1000 a month until I made sergeant. And I spent enough time in the field and in operations to earn that cash.

The poster put up legit figures. There's no reason to believe those figures are wrong. YOU said they were wrong. Prove otherwise then.

See how easy that is?

It's usually up to those making the assertion to prove it...

You know you change you mind on this a lot, depending on if it is a liberal doing the posting. Then it is up to others to disprove

But if a liberal says it is a lie, then it is up to the poster to prove there point.

I see a pattern here? Liberals are to be taken for their word and they never have to prove themselves. Hmmmm!

So Yes he is real?

Funny, isn't it? The Clown Republicans shut down the government and people are flocking to the exchanges for health care.

What ever the clowns hoped to accomplish accomplished nothing.

Yes there are a lot of people flocking to the exchanges to see if they qualify for free insurance.

But they have not figured out, there are not that many doctors and hospitals to choose from that will accept there insurance.

And the pain was postponed, but that will start soon. as there is a funny little clause in the Presidents waiver, that our employee count and incurance offerings will be on June 30 2014, so that is when the layoff's and canceling of insurance will take place.

Unless we get another Waiver, which I am predicting!

I sure am glad I'll be paying $600 a year by 2016 so some welfare bitch can get her teeth fixed after the meth ate them away.Oh, the horror! You'd be the welfare bitch if you are letting the taxpayers subsidize your health care.

Why does this often happen? Scratch a libertarian and discover a welfare queen.

You can't make this stuff up.

I don't have healthcare. I don't need it and don't choose to buy it.

I'm only 22. Why would I want to buy healthcare? Except now I'm going to be forced to.

If anything (catastrophic or critical) ever happens to you, please do us Tax Payers a really big favor ... make sure you "don't" end up in The Emergency Room.

Because Doctors have this silly obligation to The Hippocratic Oath

So please help them by having a written note to the Doctors and EMT staff not resuscitate and for the Road-Crew to leave you as Road-Kill.

Or you can always be a Fiscal Responsible Adult  you know that Bull-Shit Conservatives use to preach to Liberals.

Hippocratic Oath is outdated. And should be discarded. Besides, heaven forbid somebody like me, a future doctor, refuse to take such a nonsense oath.

"Fiscal Responsible Adult [sic]" = someone that is willing to be forced to pay for insurance that they don't need or want so that someone else who does not want to work can get to see a doctor.
