If a clean bill includes to activation of Obamacare along with funding, then it is not clean at all.

Try again?

It is? How many people got registered through it since the first? Has to be millions by now, right? I couldn't possibly have been right that it would be a technological nightmare or anything. :D

http://cloudfront-media.reason.com/mc/psuderman/2013_10/chadhendersontweet.jpg?h=325&w=500

That tweet was later referenced by OFA’s Tennessee branch, and the @Obamacare Twitter feed. Enroll America's digital director, Adam Stalker, noticed the Tweet and asked on Twitter whether Enroll America could share Chad's story (https://twitter.com/adamtstalker/status/385496177610739712). Chad excitedly charted the ensuing media attention on his Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/wchadhenderson).

"The response to my story from earlier in the week has been overwhelming!," he wrote in a Facebook update last night. "Here's an update: I've now been interviewed by The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Chattanooga Times Free Press, The Huffington Post, Enroll America, and POLITICO!!"
Chad Henderson's story was picked up by the national media because of how difficult it was to find individual stories of successful enrollment in the federal health exchanges during the initial days of enrollment. It appears that reporters may have to keep looking.

Update (2.54pm ET): Washington Post reporter Sarah Kliff writes that she "spoke with Chad over the phone about this situation. He told me that he has indeed not purchased coverage but doesn't believe he was lying. He said he told reporters that he completed an application for coverage and knows what plan he would like to purchase, but has not, as of yet, enrolled in that insurance plan." Read more here. Without funding it is a tiger without claws.

Even so it is quite destructive enough already.

Do you ever ask yourself why people resist it if it is so wonderful? Why would reasonable thinking people oppose awesome government insurance or healthcare?

Because it sucks. That's why. There is a reason I dread going to the VA for anything. Because it takes a fortnight to get anything done, and when it is done, it is done in the most half assed way possible.

History is filled with examples of its failures. And progs want to implement the exact same failed practices here. Intelligent people know it is doomed to failure.

I told you why it was a technological terror. I wasn't pulling it out of my ass. Obama had a much easier system with the VA (that he promised to get up and running in 2 years) and 5 years later...no VA system.

You guys believed the hype that it would be easy. A system like this would take a decade to do right but because it had to happen quickly we get billions of waste fraud and abuse.

Have you ever printed the legislation out? My buddy is a software guy and he said that no way could a system like that be built, tested, etc. in the time they tried to push it through.

Politics is costing billions when we don't have billions.

They should have changed the regulations about selling across state lines and force hospitals to publish prices. That would have cut costs.

And...increased Medicaid.

Since when did the left or right care about money? Or where it comes from? To them it is a never ending supply. The right wages war without cause and funding, the left doesn't stop the wars and spends more of what we don't have on vote buying.

Just be honest about it, neither side cares about where the money comes from when we can print it.

WHAT? Jillian...the "right" wasn't involved in the Obamacare legislation at all. That's what I'm talking about.

No offense, but a lawyer which is ALL OF OUR CONGRESS only think about the law, they don't think about: technology, what can be done, what are lessons learned from other systems, etc.

The reason why every single government project is so costly is because it is written by lawyers who have never had to do a damn thing in the real world.

It's why we were over in Iraq for a month before we got proper gear or enough water.

The reason why every single government project is so costly is because it is written by lawyers who have never had to do a damn thing in the real world.

government programs are expensive because we have a lot of people. thats not to say we couldn't be more efficient.

It's why we were over in Iraq for a month before we got proper gear or enough water.

you forgot the part where people were sending kids body armor because the military couldn't manage it.

remember the whole "major military operations in iraq are over" thingy? we knew it was a lie then, but i'd guess they figured they wouldn't need the supplies you're talking about

yes...but legislators legislate about a lot of things. do you think a bunch of men in ohio and texas should be making decisions about women's health care? i don't.

No, but for different reasons. I think doctors should weigh in on medical care, women's medical care, etc. I don't think lawyers should, or if they do they should work closely with doctors instead of staffers and accountants.

but notice, we're not having a tantrum. but i do look forward to texas being purple from now on

government programs are expensive because we have a lot of people. thats not to say we couldn't be more efficient.

Government programs will always be inefficient because a) yes, we have a lot of people, and b) you have to move money, c) create a million oversight program officers, then d) hire contractors.

It's just a wasteful system and will get worse yet because we're not getting any smaller.

This isn't the 1800s. We can have a loose federation now with technology and states can administer better these types of activities. That's based on the law of science. The goal is to make things smaller, not larger.

you forgot the part where people were sending kids body armor because the military couldn't manage it.

I did not forget that. That's the part where I tell you that people will pick up and do what government can't and won't. :)

The CBO is often wrong. More times than even they would care to admit. If we all listened to the CBO, we would have a deficit of over 3 Trillion dollars, an unemployment rate of under 7.1% as early as January 2013, a debt to GDP ratio of over 110 currently, among many other inaccuracies they've made within the last 4 years.

So Jillian, do you think that the 21 employee's that got to keep their job for another year, because I received a waiver from Obama are excited to see my waiver end next year?

Or do you think that they are hoping that it will be repealed by then?
