More silliness (http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/wired-shut-barricade-wwii-memorial-reinforced_759193.html). There is nothing to shut down there. This is coming from some petty political hack who needs to have his/her essential government worker status revoked and employment terminated.

who maintains the grounds there?

(i know the far right hates the optics of what they're doing, that's kind of a shame)

now THIS is silliness

GOP rep won’t donate paycheck: He needs to pay for his ‘nice house’Clare Kim (http://tv.msnbc.com/author/clarekimsnbc/)
Republican Congressman Lee Terry of Nevada told the Omaha World Herald (http://www.omaha.com/article/20131004/NEWS/131009431/1685#forgo-their-pay-during-shutdown-midlands-lawmakers-split-on-the-idea) that he “cannot handle” giving up his shutdown-earned paycheck.
“I’ve got a nice house and a kid in college, and I’ll tell you we cannot handle it. Giving our paycheck away when you still worked and earned it? That’s just not going to fly.”
When asked by the newspaper whether or not he will continue to keep his paychecks, Rep. Terry answered, “Dang straight.” The congressman added that it was an irrelevant question because the shutdown would soon come to an end.
According to the Washington Post‘s tally (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/10/01/which-lawmakers-will-refuse-their-pay-during-the-shutdown/), at least 138 House and Senate members have said they plan to donate or refuse compensation earned during the shutdown. Members who have declined to comment about their paychecks have continued to remain silent, but Congressman Terry was more forthright, calling paycheck donations mere publicity stunts.
“Whatever gets them good press,” Terry said about members donating their salary. “That’s all that it’s going to be. God bless them.”

And, who makes the rain fall? Who brings the gentle breezes to cool our fevered brows? Who puts our daily bread on our table? It's not you. You didn't do that. It's PRESIDENT OBAMA.

Oooh, but they do. Live not by the spirit of the law, but its letter...that's the motto of partisans when the letter of the law lets them get their way.

You'll never get your answer from a partisan hack like Jillian.

This is Barack Hussein Obama throwing another one of his little temper tantrums. He wants to inflict as much pain as possible on the American people. A real leader would try to help us as much as possible. Obama is a piece of shit. Too many of you dumbasses will never see that.

It likely takes more $ to pay all the security to close these places than it does to keep them open.

Basically, the administration and the Democrats are saying that if you don't fully fund Obamacare then we won't let you fund anything. They follow that up by using federal power to coerce to force as much misery on as many people as possible.

I'm awfully sorry but it's hard not to see this as a partisan game from a totally partisan president and a Democrat party dominated by radical leftists.

jillian's okay, just confused by the cultural media blitz of the Democratic apparatus. She's a "Jewish Mother" so she has to take care of people whether they want her to or not. It comes from a good place, I believe.

This is 100% the spot on truth. If the repubs won't fund every damn thing they want, they are going to block bills that save the lives on children. Just ask Harry Reid... Why would we want to do that fund bills to help kids with cancer???
