All right, we got nothing this week except for the Pro Bowl and I figured that did not deserve it's own thread.

Go Giants!

Big news for the Bears!

Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears quarterback and Kristin Cavallari's on and off and on beau, broke his thumb in November and the Bears saw their playoff hopes go up in smoke. Who cares! Cutler is going to be a father!

Cavallari, the reality TV star with the great bikini body, is having a little bitty -- or possibly very big -- baby. (Dad is 6-foot-3, 233 pounds.)

The couple became engaged in April. Then they became disengaged in July. Then, they became re-engaged in November.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/gossip/2012/01/kristin-cavallari-pregnant-jay-cutler.html

This is not good news for Da Bears. JC's focus needs to be on FOOTBALL! Families can wait.

Mister D

They have their backup QB coming soon then. That is good news.

Conley

Who's the backup now? That Hanie guy was awful.

I would get rid of Lovie, JC, and Hanie for starters.

Repeat of Superbowl 42.....I think the Giants will deny Brady again.

With Cutler.....now that the West Coast Offense isn't going to be in play all that much. There will not need to be that much emphasis on Cutler. As long as he can hand the ball off without screwing up. He has a job. At least we know he wont be throwing every single down and throwing that Bomb. U-know the one where he always throws it over everybody's head and usually results in 3 and out.

I think they will keep that Cade McKnowbodyknows.....as the back up and maybe move Hanie to 3rd string, if not trade him. Either way the Bears will look to save money rather than have an adequate back-up.

Not sure that offense will do much with Mike Tice calling the plays. I hope I'm wrong but that guy is pretty bad.

I agree with you there. Although Tice did turn the line around for the Run Game. Plus right before Cutler got injured they were giving him some protection. They say he is a smash-mouth football type of player.

This is where I think that offense line needs to have more than one practice in pads. Moreover if they want to be good together then they should be working out together and always practicing together. With or without the QB. Kinda like a military squad. Live together and know how each other thinks and reacts.

Also if you notice with this Kickoff Rule. Over 90% of all kickoffs were kicked out of the endzone. The Commish's idea to prevent those big returns. Except on punts. I think it is bogus.

Good points, the OL did get a lot better as the year went on and teamwork is essential for a good line. Kickoffs this year were lousy and just led to an extra long commercial break. Commercials - kick off into the end zone - Back to commercials. Ruined an exciting part of the game that could lead to a score at any time!

MMC
01-24-2012, 04:01 PM
Yep and another thing this year was all these officials time-outs. WTF is up with that. Just so they can get another sponsored commercial up there. Right after showing over a mintue and 15 seconds of commercials. I am not talking about an injury time-out either.

During the season they kicked off and it didnt really matter. Due to all the games. But it sure seemed so with the playoffs. My contention is some teams have Superb Special Teams and returners. Like the Giants Bears Ravens, Teams like NE don't have that great returner nor a great special team. So those teams are able to get back into a game quickly when they just have average offenses.

Conley
01-24-2012, 04:05 PM
Yeah, when a team has a guy like Devin Hester they are screwed by that new rule. Not really fair especially if the return game was part of why those guys get the contracts they do.

I figured it would be a decision for D.....Giants or Brady. I thought for sure he would go with the Giants playing in Jersey over just a QB that likes to sue homeless guys and Crush his enemies with a killer instinct and hear the lamentation of the women.

Which reminds me a few years back my OL started watching the games with us......after listening about 3 quarters out of the clear blue. She says......they sure seem to keep sex on their mind while playing this game. As she described what the announcer said about the RB plowing thru the middle. After they got a penalty for encroachment and one for illegal use of the hands.

MADONNA is “bringing gay to the Super Bowl.” That’s what we overheard one of her dancers say at the premiere party for Her Madgesty’s “W.E.” at Top of the Standard on Monday night. On the red carpet, Madonna (http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/Madonna+(Entertainer)) told us she’s “extremely nervous” about the big game, but looking forward to singing her new song, “Give Me All Your Love,” and some “oldies but goodies.” She also said the best fashion advice she’s gotten from her daughter Lourdes (http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/Lourdes+Leon) — who was escorted into the Cinema Society and Forevermark-
sponsored screening by two bodyguards — was, “Mom, you’re totally ridiculous. No one is going to take you seriously as a director.”

MMC
01-26-2012, 12:02 AM
All this so she can show up and lip-sync while making her Gay Statement. How bout we stick with the script. Performer comes in at halftime. Actually performs. Sings song.....leaves! No statement.....nothing but lets get back to football.

I got one for them.....screw playing your hit song and trying to get coverage over that. How about you sing a song about Football. One of the Teams. The Season or Something like that. Then get the frick on.

I am tired of watching them rush out people to a stage 2 mins after they started. Acting like they are having a good time. Throw a flag somebody. To many men on the field. Fricken shame they make us watch that. But God forbid somebody running out on the field at any other time game. Usually in a some costume or just streakin. Then its block whats happening.

NEW YORK (AP)—Now that the NFL has labor peace for the next decade, Commissioner Roger Goodell has job security through the 2018 season.

Not only did Goodell get through one of the league’s most contentious and troubling periods—a 4 1/2 -month lockout of the players—but he oversaw a highly successful season once a 10-year collective bargaining agreement was reached. On Wednesday, he reaped some rewards himself with a contract extension through March 2019.....snip~

Yeah, I saw that. He's terrible but ratings are through the roof and the NFL loves stability, so there you go.

I think he needs to bring in more teams but anybody in that position can do so. Still he caters more to offensive players and thats not fair to defensive players. Like the owners are doing.

Conley

I think that's part of why ratings are up. Audiences like scoring and the QBs are the stars of the league - more endorsement and advertising $$$.
