If G.W. Bush had a 'mandate' after the 2004 election, then what the does President Obama have?
Why does this only work in one direction?
Bush won by about 3 million votes and Obama won by more than 5 million votes.
"Iearned capital in this campaign, political capital, and now I intend to spend it," Bush told reporters. "It is my style."
"When you win, there is ... a feeling that the people have spoken and embraced your point of view," Bush said. "And that's what I intend to tell Congress, that I made it clear what I intend to do as the president; now let's work."
"He's not reaching out; he's just saying if you agree with us, you can come along for the journey," said Rep. George Miller (http://www.sfgate.com/?controllerName=search&action=search&channel=politics&search=1&inlineLink=1&query=%22George+Miller%22), D-Martinez. "And I suspect that is how it's going to play out in the second term."
"I really didn't come here to hold the office, just to say 'Gosh, it was fun to serve,' " Bush said. "I came here to get some things done."
"My goal is to work on the ideal, and to reach out and to continue to work and find common ground," Bush said. "On the other hand, I've been wisened to the ways of Washington."
"I'm not blaming one party or the other, it's just the reality of Washington, D.C.," he said.

It's a rhetorical question; we all know what President Obama is being obstructed ...
