Anyone else really enjoy instrumental music? It helps me to relax and gives me something to listen to while I study.

Right now I'm listening to:

Most of the instrumental stuff I listen to is drone and would not relax you at all.

Stuff like Earth or Angelic Process? I like those bands but I listen to them for different reasons than I would listen to, say, Explosions in the Sky or something a little more chill.

Yeah, I listen to both Earth and Sunn O))). But now that I think of it I do have one thing I can post in here:

If the beginning sounds familiar that's because it totally is.

Nah, just instrumental music in any genre. The video in the OP is Naseer Shamma, an Iragi oud player. I just use the term instrumental because it's vague enough to cover rock, post rock, jazz, classical, romantic and contemporary music.

Haven't listened to Sunn O))) in a while. Earth does some really great post rock type stuff too which is one reason I listen to them a lot more.

Hella's Tripper is one of the best instrumental albums I've ever heard. They are just a guitarist and a drummer but they really know how to keep the music interesting.

Just chatting with the wife about that tune. I downloaded For Whom The Bell Tolls for her wakeup alarm and she was asking me to download the whole CD.

I'm primarily a jazz musician and I play a lot of instrumental music. With that in mind, one of my favorite guitarists is Pat Metheny. Here is a 1998 performance of his tune "Are You Going With Me?", originally from the 1981 "Offramp" album:

OK, for those of you in to the music of Stax records, here's the legendary Booker T. and the MGs with Steve Cropper on the Telecaster and none other than the late Donald "Duck" Dunn (one of my favorite bassists) on the P-Bass with "Green Onions":

Love Booker T and the MGs! Besides Time is Tight and Green Onions, another fave is Hip Hug Her (I played it so much, I wore the grooves right off the 45rpm record in high school). This video also features Steve Cropper and Donald "Duck" Dunn......

Look at foreign ( ... rofl! like MUSIC could be "foreign," or something?) music ~

sometimes?

Just not understanding the words allows you to enjoy the voice as an instrument,

AND, there's lot's of instrumental stuff, too!
