The wife of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who led a vocal effort to defund the Affordable Care Act, confirmed in a New York Times interview published Wednesday that the senator receives health care coverage through her blue-chip employer insurance plan.

"Ted is on my health care plan," Heidi Nelson Cruz, a Houston-based managing director for Wall Street firm Goldman Sachs, told the newspaper.

A spokeswoman for the Texas senator confirmed the coverage to the Times, which was worth at least $20,000 a year, according to Goldman.

“The senator is on his wife’s plan, which comes at no cost to the taxpayer and reflects a personal decision about what works best for their family,” spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said.

Employer insurance plan. No cost to taxpayer. A choice. That's good. What's the beef?

You missed a good point you could have driven home and failed at the point you are trying to make. Rich people can always afford every plan, therefore his stating that poor people don't want to pay isn't at odds with that.

Ted Cruz is not a man of the people. He's the husband of a VP at Goldman Sachs.

Hey Einsteins ... Your TeaBagger Leader is telling the ignorant among you to reject having coverage while he would never think of not having Insurance Coverage for himself, his Wife and Children. But hey ... I guess if the stupid among you follow his advice, I'm sure they can just dial 1-800-TED-BEAR and I'm sure Rafael Teddy Cruz will pick-up the Health Care tab.

I guess it's true .... he'll empty his pockets for you.

"They" is Rand Paul. He also wanted the 4th Amendment protection act which only Leahy was with him on and the Minimum Mandatory Sentencing which only Leahy was with him on, and was against indefinite detention in the NDAA which only Leahy was with him on...

Obviously it makes no sense for anyone to be cheering about not having insurance ... when the guess speaker has insurance.

I agree ... ignorant isn't it?

That's a lie, too. Liberals have a real problem being honest. Congress should only be required to have the same insurance I have if they're forcing me to have it. The problem is when socialists/progressives/communists say here's your policy and ours if over here.

And then the little ignorant troll jumped in with: "They are soo full of shit, it's coming out of their ears."

Now, I better shout so Cigar can hear me, "GUESS WHO'S EARS ARE FULL OF SHIT, CIGAR."

And then Cigar says, "Hey Einsteins ... Your TeaBagger Leader is telling the ignorant among you to reject having coverage."

Of course, Cigar knows Sen. Cruz didn't say that but Cigar found it on Sen. Durbin's website so there you go. Jillian assured us that Sen. Durbin was honest.

Actually, they want choice. But if the country class has not choice, why should the ruling class?

And, you know, Michelle Obama's health coverage is provided by the job her husband got. That means...well...nothing. Now, if she would quit getting multi-million dollar vacations that would mean something.

I realize what Cruz is doing is anathema to the left wingers. He is practicing FREEDOM OF CHOICE. He is choosing which health care coverage he might want. The cost of the coverage is irrelevant to the issue. What is germane is that he is not REQUIRED like the rest of us will be to choose only the coverage the government has deemed best for us.

I find it extremely revealing that what the left finds so "hypocritical" is the ability to make decisions on what is in our own self interest rather than becoming part of the collective they all so dearly yearn for.

That is the coverage of the rest of America, he did not take the government funded coverage.

was I the only one noticing that a former Bush lawyer, husband of a G&S VP was pulling a stunt guaranteed to get more progressives elected?

You'd mentioned it a week or so ago where it was equally ironic. It's not Cruz who's important, to me, but free choice, and cigar's trying to twist it into partisan hypocrisy, something partisans seem awfully hung up on.
