Detroit was the first US city we lived in...it sucked. It was corrupt from the cops to the mayor. The UAW and Pensioners are fighting the bankruptcy (Detroit's debt is the same as Ethiopias), Kilpatrick (who they ALL SUPPORTED) just got 28 years, and you have dumbasses out there like Melissa Harris Perry who think we should save Detroit.

Never once did we call the police and have them show up within the hour. If you got shot you better know someone with a car because the ambulance was not coming.

Detroit is no better or worse now than it was before. Why should we bail them out?

They need to go through bankruptcy.

The unions bankrupted Detroit. Only way to get rid of them is to declare bankruptcy.

We should only bail out banks.

Sure, the ignorant easy out.... blame unions. Except Detroit would have gone bankrupt anyway, because the city relied on a single industry instead of diversifing. Liberal SF bay area didn't have that problem....

Speaking of ignorant, Nic you take the blue ribbon for your consistent ignorance here.

The City is faced with a budget deficit of $283.1 million for next fiscal year, and pension costs alone are expected to double to $800 million by 2014.

Yep, another liberal run city being bankrupted by its unions.

I'm sure I could make MY arguments by pulling 2 year old articles out my ass too...

But here's a new one:

San Francisco’s unemployment rate has dropped from 9.5 percent in January 2011 to 5.7 percent in June 2013.

Insurance cos. won't drop us if we get sick, and they can't exclude pre-existing conditions for starters.... also women's preventive care check ups are now free.... kids can stay on parents insurance.... more to come. You'll love it DEE!

But we have no idea how this will pan out. It could be a disaster that will cancel out any of those benefits.

Sorry, this one Bush really was responsible for....

Obama did not enact TARP, his administration was responsible for administering it.

Detroit is the only place I feel qualified to speak to because I actually lived there. The UAW jacked up wages as high as $25 for clipping seat belts and $65 for painting. My neighbor couldn't wait to get into the union so he could make $60 an hour.

There was no way that automakers were going to keep paying someone &25 to clip seat belts to a strap on an assembly line when they can get Mexicans to do it for less than $8.

They were unreasonable in the face of change and cost thousands of people their jobs at the end of the day.

As far as the city unions...ANYONE having to deal with any public person in Detroit knew that they could expect service 1/2 the time because no one got fired for NOT showing up.

When kids can make it to schools where there are no teachers that is a crying ass damn shame.

Then you have Mr. KickBack Mayor who people kept voting for BECAUSE of the unions being indicted...

Sorry, Detroit caused its own mess because people kept thinking that you could get paid for doing very little at the expense of others.

We shouldn't on principle. When people fail like those bankers did (and Detroit did) it is a moral failure to ask people who did the right thing at sacrifice to pay for their failure and greed.

Those bankers would have foreclosed on homeowners in a heartbeat. Maybe the system would have collapsed, but...no one stays down forever and we would have at least all learned something and come back stronger.

Detroit is a poster child for a failed liberal utopia.

In fact, it's such a poster child that even now while Detroit is in economic flames, utter failure and total collapse, liberal leeches continue to rape the dead victim as it lies in a puddle of it's own blood.

This is extreme liberalism.
