Its a fact that Libertarians have always been weak on National Defense, but holy cow---now they are acting just like their liberal counterparts in seeking to have big government strip you of your liberties. What's next, Libertarians teaming up with progressives and socialists alike to push for wealth redistribution?

This says "tea party". Libertarians haven't been tea partiers since they shoved out Ron Paul and got coopted by crazies. If you want to see libertarians and what we believe, read www.reason.com (http://www.reason.com).

Try reading the OP again. Libertarians are joining environmental groups to push for government to monitor our auto mileage.

Its the Tea Party that published this, not the Tea Party that's promoting this.

Actually, libertarians are strong on defense. We are noninterventionists, not isolationists.

Okay, let me take you by the 'LEFT' hand and have you count down 17 lines from the link. On the 17th line is where you'll find the mention of Libertarians.

Like I said, I'm still not seeing it. Who are these "libertarians" and where is the proof? You have to verify this shit.

Stereotyping and self-identifying with an entire party ideology.

All a product of people being too afraid to think for themselves.

Seems many people confuse the two. Grab a dictionary and disabuse yourself.

I think you're also confusing Libertarians, a political party, with libertarian, a political principle.

That's the way our government was designed, nic. The oddballs are lefties in lockstep.

BTW, libertarian can be left or right and is opposed to statism.

I'm nearly as libertarian as you, difference is you are also about the furthest "right" of anyone here.

Left-right matters as much as up-down, but you seem to obscure that fact a lot of times...

Maybe time for an update?

When'd you become an anti-statist, nic?

I am for the government being truly out of your bedroom and relationships.

I am for the government having no clue what we put in our bodies.

I am for the government not knowing what I talk about on my phone.

Am I a lefty or a righty?

I wrote right handed till I broke my collarbone, twice, and since write left-handed. But I bat and throw right-handed. --Oops, you meant politically.

It shouldn't outlaw anything anyone wants to put in their body. No one is stopping me from buying Drano and drinking it, why stop me from buying anything else?

I agree, for outlawing pot would force people to use their brain cells in a more focused manner. We wouldn't want to have people change from being in a smoke induced semi hallucinated-lethargic state of mind, now would we?

Except that marijuana has been proven to open previously blocked neural tubes and restart neurotransmitters.

Not the same at all. So I take it your a statist--same thing as a liberal, both equally weak positions.

And in the meantime while these experts in the field of neurology test and experiment on these wonderful state-of-the-art procedures that may or may not help in the medicinal sense, we are still left with a bunch of dead beat nitwits who continue to smoke themselves into an altered state of semi consciousness so as to avoid dealing with reality.

I don't really think that this is that bad of an idea actually. The tax dollars from this would go directly to the road system and infrastructure. It's more realistic and reliable to taxing gasoline, especially as gasoline will slowly become obsolete in automobiles in the future, and perhaps it would encourage people to use alternative and cleaner forms of transportation like public transportation, carpools, bikes, and simply just walking.

but that would mean acknowledging that we need to explore alternative energies and wean ourselves from fossil fuels.

It would be a good idea were other taxes on fuel rescinded. Then it becomes a consumption tax, the more you use the more you pay. If it's simply to redistribute wealth from one form of energy to another, then it's none of government's business to pick winners and losers.

Or maybe they track you to a legitimate appointment with a shrink; and now the State knows something they don't need to know about you.

...or you drive your brother to a friend of his' place and he has "issues" with someone that you are completely unaware of until the authorities show up at your place...this will completely negate "dumb luck"...
