These are the guys the republican party fights for to keep their taxpayer handouts going and thats why I dont support them anymore.
Theres no way to justify this, you can vilify non republicans on forums call them libs and tell them how they dont understand how capitalism works and insinuate how dumb they are and no one believes it, even YOU dont.

k "massive taxpayer money boondoggle that should be cut from the federal budget immediately." They've probably heard about how hard it is out there for small family farmers, doing honest work in the world, keeping everyone fed and maintaining our institutional repository of agricultural practices. Surely, these subsidies are helping to keep an important way of life alive for the True Sons of Soil and Toil ... like, say, multi-billionaire Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. Wait. What? He's a farmer?
Ha ha, yes. As it turns out, your taxpayer dollars "subsidize" the "farming" that's being done by a host of mega-rich superstars from the Forbes 400 list, none of whom you'd immediately associate with the sort of hardscrabble agri-artisan who's in need of a leg up from the federal government. But their numbers are legion. According to the Environmental Working Group (http://www.ewg.org/release/forbes-billionaires-reaped-millions-farm-subsidies), "at least 50 billionaires or farm businesses in which they had a financial interest benefited from $11.3 million in traditional farm subsidies between 1995 and 2012." And the farm bill currently being considered contains changes that will likely increase the subsidies these billionaires take away.

What a wonderful government we have! Shame, common, that you think only Reps are at fault, but you're a typical partisan who blames the other side and sees no evil in yours.

Just think of it as their version of Walmart employee food stamps because the Liberal government taxes and regulates them too much.

You're still going on about the Government shutdown? I don't know what more economic data I can possibly present to show how meaningless it was.

I can insult anyone who buys into this Great Hoax. Democrats and Republicans all have pork. They all have corporate sponsors. It's just different projects and different sponsors.

When I hear people say "republicans do..." or "democrats do..." I just know they are not awake.

Since you are neither privy to GRC's family nor his circumstances, or have any personal insight into his attitude regarding medical assistance, that statement constitutes personal attack

This is what your hero Obama has done

http://dailycaller.com/2013/11/11/record-high-91-5-million-people-not-included-in-labor-force/

A record high 91,541,000 Americans did not participate in the labor force this October.
According to data (http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS15000000) from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), 932,000 people dropped out of the labor force last month, from at total of 90,609,000 in September to 91,541,000 in October.
The BLS defines (http://www.bls.gov/bls/glossary.htm#marginally_attached_workers) a person “[n]ot in the labor force” as age 16 and older who are not employed and not considered to be unemployed as they have not looked for work in the four weeks prior to the survey.

The labor force participation rate — or all employed and unemployed people — in accordance with the decline, also hit a record low at 62.8 percent.
When President Obama took office in January 2009, the labor force participation rate was 65.7 percent.
From January 2009 to October 2013, more than 11 million people have dropped out of the labor force — from 80,507,000 to October’s 91,541,000.

Youre right and youre wrong, youre right that there are democrats that push farm subsidies but its the republicans that vote down getting rid of them every time and they are the most vocal. Even more vocal for big oil subs and big pharma.
Oh and chris I am no more partisan than you or anyone else on here :)

Here is the thing?

we will use your figures of the shutdown costing the US citizen 24 billion?

Here is the GDP

http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/NY.GDP.MKTP.CD

And then consider the fact that much of the 24 billion was money that was spent to cause pain to the citizen by a president that was not getting his way!

Had they just made intelligent cuts, the public would have realized that we have way too much government and that it is not needed. So they tried to inflict pain on the citizens with their choices.

And even with this? the 24 billion was a blip on the economy

I live in the heart of farm and ranch country, and I can rest assure you that NO ONE out here is getting rich off of any INSURANCE subsidies,

for that is the ONLY reason the gov would give one little care ~

they ARE insuring that all of us/US have food to eat,
one of the few things that they're doing, RIGHT, ffs.

Have you any idea what the machinery costs,
not just to buy,
but to upkeep?

The hours required, the heartache and heartburn involved in worrying about crops?

No. Of course you don't. You sit in some city,
and presume to tell any and everyone about these "scams"
that farmers and ranchers are perpetrating on the general public,
in order to keep them fuking FED.
How misleading is ^THAT?^

It ISN'T the Too BIG To Fail businesses you'd better be worrying about ~

it's the too small to take the massive loss of failure biz's you'd best be caring about.

The Answer likely lies in the CRP programs that set aside land for conservation use.

The program while being scaled back is a big push from conservationist and the eco crowd, as it sets aside land for natural habitat and soil conservation!

So if you do not want Mr. Farmer growing corn along a river or stream, they you pay him to create natural habitat, if you don't he is going to grow corn!

Of course the large farmers make the most money, but others do too! the more lands into the program, the more you are going to make.

Next you have a tax deduction status that allows farmers to Take the entire write off for certain equipment in the first year! Irrigations is one of the categories. And once again if you are a little farmer you put in one 100K system every 5 years, the big guys put in as many as they need. and While this would seem like a subsidy, it is the exact same deduction that they would get over 5 or 10 years, just taken up front. This is much of the oil subsidies as well.

And then of course to not make the welfare programs look out of control, the food stamp program Is part of the farm bill. Apparently the farmers grow food stamps.

We're fixing to Fall Out ~

go to Argentina for your beef, and pay the prices.
I won't have to care ~
I'll have veal.

Go to Brazil for your veggies.
I won't have to care ~
I'll ride down to The Valley, and get whatever I can't grow,
and trade what I have too much of.

If you MAKE us have to?

We WILL opt out, make no mistake about that.

You might have money? But we'll have food,

and if you really want to piss us off? You won't.
