Hillary Clinton in 2007: 'If you have a plan you like, you keep it'

By REBECCA BERG | NOVEMBER 14, 2013 AT 5:26 AM

When she was last a candidate for president in 2007, Hillary Clinton unveiled her own health care proposal, which, like Obamacare, included beefed-up benefits and a catchy pitch: "If you have a plan you like, you keep it." Obama went on to defeat Clinton, but he adopted her tag line to help win support for his own health care plan -- making the same promise, for which he recently apologized.

"You can keep the doctors you know and trust. You keep the insurance you have," Clinton said on Sept. 17, 2007, at the Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. "If you have private insurance you like, nothing changes — you can keep that insurance."

Clinton's campaign website echoed that claim.

That peaked my curosity considering Democrats are running as fast as they can from Obama Care. How much different was Hillary Care?

Clinton Health Plan Outlined

DES MOINES -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's sweeping health-care proposal, which she plans to unveil today, would require every American to carry health insurance and offer federal subsidies to help reduce the cost of coverage.

Clinton's aides said she believes that an individual mandate is the only way to achieve health care for all. A key component of her plan would be a federal tax subsidy to help individuals pay for coverage.

Clinton's plan builds on the existing employer-based system of coverage. People who receive insurance through the workplace could continue to do so; businesses, in turn, would be required to offer insurance to employees, or contribute to a government-run pool that would help pay for those not covered. Clinton would offer a tax subsidy to small businesses to help them afford the cost of providing coverage to their workers.

Doesn't sound a whole bunch different from what out of Obama Care. Individual mandate and taxpayers picking up the tab for for the poor. Please remember this as Hillary tries to walk herself back from her original plan from 2007. I think if Hillary had made President, she'd be in the same leaky boat as Obama right now.

There's little doubt in my mind she won't try to re-write history.

Congratulations: Idiots who want to pay more to the insurance companies for nothing in return ... Won.
