A Western crusade? Hardly. The "West" was simply reacting to events as they happened and reacted rather haphazardly, IMO. Moreover, Egypt was a friendly government to the US and we have no idea what Libya will look like. The same goes for Syria. If this is the West's master plan God help us...

What events was the West reacting to that happened? Didn't Turkey use to be neutral with Syria? Why would they want to get involve in this mess. Knowing that it could lead down the road to something with Israel too.

The recent turmoil in the Mid East (e.g. Libya, Egypt, Syria etc.). Only relatively closed societies like Russia and China could imagine this is some kind of conspiracy. Regarding Turkey, the AKP is a Islamic party. It seems to me that they would prefer Turkey play a bigger role in Mid East affairs. I think the Turkish government sees itself as a major player.

Yes but they had a Secular Government and are tolerable of other religions so I thought. :undecided: Especially tolerant of Christians. I don't understand wanting to follow the path of the deluded.

The Turks should choose their own destiny. I have no problem with that.

Lets hope they will stick to it and not play follow the leader.

Methinks they want to be that leader.

Turkey is reasserting itself as a regional power. They are the only locals, other than Israel, that can check Iranian power.
