Former San Francisco 49ers (http://thepoliticalforums.com/nfl/team/san-francisco-49ers/67059) wide receiver Freddie Solomon, one of the franchise’s most beloved players during the team’s run of championship excellence in the 1980s, died Monday afternoon after a nine-month battle with colon and liver cancer. He was 59.

Solomon, who played 11 NFL seasons with the Miami Dolphins (http://thepoliticalforums.com/nfl/team/miami-dolphins/67052) and the 49ers from 1975-85, had been hospitalized since Feb. 4. He won two Super Bowls while with the 49ers and is best remembered for being the targeted player for quarterback Joe Montana during the famous “Montana-to-Clark” catch in the 1982 playoff victory over the Dallas Cowboys (http://thepoliticalforums.com/nfl/team/dallas-cowboys/67043).

Solomon, a 5-foot-11, 184-pound receiver known for his improvisational play, played collegiately at the University of Tampa and was a second-round selection of the Dolphins in the 1975 NFL Draft.....snip~

Wow..... Lost to Colon Cancer. 9 month battle. He almost walked me into their locker room when they beat Da Bears like 46-13. Which was when he was with the Dolphins. I had a pennant with all the Dolphins Signatures. Except the jerk-off Bob Griese. R.I.P. Freddie. One of the Great Recievers of All Time.

Dang, RIP Freddie. Sad to see. I never liked Griese, that was a lame move to keep you out.

Yeah.....back then he refused to give out Autographs. He heard it from the Chicago Fans. Plus he was Purdue Alumni. But now Freddie Solomon I always did think he was a classy guy.
